Another Sweet Sunday Sketch: #271

Hope your weekend has been splendid! It’s time for the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge!! #271! Hop over to see all the fun the team made πŸ™‚

Here’s the sketch for this week:

Here is my card for the week:

hawkins_jill_you're like_0_wmI’m unsure as to who made this!? Between the color combo and flowers (yes, again!), I need to check my temperature. Haaaaa! I try to stretch out of my comfort zone now and again, and let me tell you, this one is a huge stretch for me. πŸ˜‰ Should hold me over for awhile.

hawkins_jill_you're like_wmI had to splatter the inside of the card to balance myself out a bit. LOL.

hawkins_jill_you're like_00_wmOh, and be sure to stretch your dies! I did so a few times on this one with both the Blueprints 23 and the Jumbo Fishtail Banner STAX. You can get a bigger bang from your supplies. πŸ™‚

Be sure to check out the Sweet Sunday Sketch Blog for all the different takes! πŸ™‚

MFT Color Challenge #22!

MFT_ColorChallenge_PaintBook_22Today starts Color Challenge #22 on the My Favorite Things Challenge & Inspiration blog. Head on over there and see what our wickedly talented team busted out this week!

MFTC&I Blog–sure to be FABulous!

Here’s my card for the week:

hawkins_jill_hello_cc_00_wmI double die cut the Jumbo Dot Cover Up after inlaying the first set of circles. When you do this, you can’t exactly tell where you are cutting because the die is solid, but it worked out. πŸ™‚hawkins_jill_hello_cc_wmPolka dots… love ’em! πŸ™‚

I made a second card with some left over dots. It’s been a week of “hmmm, that’s not quite what I was thinking it would look like…”. Too funny. It’s still fun to send a shaker, right?

hawkins_jill_happy cc_00_wmI popped up the black front panel in hopes that Sour Apple would show through the window a bit, but…not so much. Ha!! πŸ˜‰hawkins_jill_happy cc_wmIt’s already growing on me more though. πŸ™‚

MFT_WSC_230 Poof! Here’s my take:hawkins_jill_yr pretty darn awesome_00_wmThis is a project that looked one way in my head, and came out another. Meh, that’s ok πŸ™‚hawkins_jill_yr pretty darn awesome_wmI made a second card based on this MFT Sketch #230. This is an even looser take, but the sketch still comes through. πŸ˜‰

hawkins_jill_celebrate_wmFor this card, I challenged myself to get it made and be in bed before midnight. I succeeded :). (‘Fastest Turtle’ for a reason: I’m slow. But let’s call me, ummm…”deliberate”, OK? πŸ˜‰ ) It helps that I save 98% of my scraps. I used some from THIS card. Hooray for being frugal! Ha! πŸ™‚hawkins_jill_celebrate_00_wmI thank one of my (many) enablers, Erin, for the sweet hook up on this Balloon STAX set. She’s a stinker like that. πŸ™‚

hawkins_jill_close to my heart_wmHere’s those Build-able Blooms again! I needed them a lot in May πŸ™‚

hawkins_jill_close to my heart_00_wmI made a second card based on this Sketch #229: The Man Version πŸ™‚ hawkins_jill_bow ties are cool_wmThese bow ties are cool, right?! I “inlaid” the circles into the wonky panel strip to integrate the pieces a bit more. πŸ™‚

CREATE Magazine!

My Favorite Things Die-namics is being featured in CREATE Magazine this month! Whoot! 01-create-cover-may-2015-_Layout-1The idea was to use one of two dies in interesting out-of-the-box ways. I, of course, chose the Proof Positive Cover-Up because, well, it is freaking awesome. So then I went mad. I die cut the plus signs in all these different colors and then pieced them together. Then came the *hold your breath*. If I screwed up my next die cutting, the time I spend piecing these would be for naught. Fortunately, I lucked out! πŸ™‚ Phew! Insert *big sigh of relief*. LOL. πŸ™‚ Silly silly.

jillhawkins_create awesome_00_wmI thought it turned out pretty cool. I’d love to try it again using different color combos and different shapes. πŸ™‚ jillhawkins_create awesome_wmHope you’ll check out this issue of CREATE Magazine to see all the other awesome MFT projects!
