Thank you, Paper Smooches!

Hello Everyone! Today is a special day to celebrate Paper Smooches ♥️!! In case you didn’t know, Paper Smooches has been retired and Kim is on to a new adventure! We thought it would be fun to celebrate Paper Smooches and surprise Kim with a little Blog/Social Media Hug! #hugstoKim

A bunch of us are sharing cards/projects today to celebrate NINE YEARS of Paper Smooches!  That’s a long time! We wanted to create a project to send HUGS to Kim and thank her for all the creative inspiration she’s put out into the world for us all! ❤

For my card, I figured it would be best if I used my favorite Paper Smooches stamps EVER. And well, while  that sounds amazing in theory, there was NO WAY they would all fit onto one card! Haaaaaa! I learned that super quick as I was pulling out dozens of sets. Ha! So I had to bag that idea quick, and instead made a card to say YAY!! We love you! 🙂

Here is my project I made and sent to Kim: ❤

This card includes the following Paper Smooches goodies: Falling for You, Vanilla Verbiage, Hearts Stencil and Fab Frames Dies. Gah!!! These hearts!! And this sweet little Monster! ❤ I’m also using my little Paper Smooches watermark just one last time. 🙂

I know that I am far from alone in loving so many sweet images Kim has drawn. Kim also has an amazing gift in that her handwriting is so fantastically lovable, creating unique sentiments that are forever perfect for so many reasons. And Kim’s heart and appropriately her handdrawn hearts are some of my all time favorite–so sweet! 🙂

I thought I’d try and convey a little bit of my own personal gratitude to Kim and Paper Smooches today too. Although I often feel there aren’t words big enough for that amount of Thanks, I’ll try! My very first photopolymer stamp set was Paper Smooches and when you consider that Paper Smooches was created just nine years ago, I find this so odd. A good odd! I feel like I have been stamping and loving PS for so many more years than that. Kim has been around  in the crafting industry for many year prior to PS and her resume overflows with her accomplishments, as many of us know. What talent!

I first started my Paper Smooches collection with the one stamp set. I didn’t have a die cut machine back then, so I couldn’t even say if dies were available? Again, another odd thing to think about. ha! But I collected and cultivated my PS collection, over time, entering PS contests and submitting my Paper Smooches cards for publication. And while I did earn more PS products to create with, what I am most grateful for was the mutual ❤ for crafty fun, design and sharing. From my first communication with Kim, it was ever so apparent of her kindness and support. Kim’s support has always given me steps to climb on, motivating me to practice and enjoy this craft more and more! I love making cards and over the years, Paper Smooches designs have always been at the top of my list. ❤ Thank you, Kim, for sharing your talents and kindness with all of us over the years. I am so grateful for you, your kindness, support and friendship and I CANNOT WAIT to see what you’re up to next, my friend! 🙂 ❤

Thank you to many of the Paper Smooches designer Alumni who are joining in this HUG to Paper Smooches today! Be sure to pop over to all these links below and see what projects they are sharing as well. I’m certain they are amazing!!  I can’t wait to be inspired by them too. ❤

Taylored Expressions: Halloween!

Are you in the mood to get the Autumn things out? While I am holding on to Summer this year more than ever, but I am ALWAYS ready for Fall. It’s my favorite! On that note, today I’m here with fun Halloween goodness from Taylored Expressions! I love seeing all the Halloween cards the TE Creative Team made, so be sure to check them out over on the TE Blog with links to their blogs too!

These are all available from Taylored Expressions today, August 25th! Yay!

First up, of course, always a fave, Big Grumpy…and he’s all dressed up for Halloween with Big Grumpy Halloween!! 🙂

This sentiment though! haaaaaaa!!!! Did you see the little graphic up there at the top of this post? That’s Melody’s super cute card. Another funny sentiment. 🙂

I colored everything with Copic Markers and die cut them out before. I blended a mix of violets and purples (gasp) over a panel using the TE Rectangle Masking Stencil. Keeping the stencil on, I stamped adding to the previously released background Bare Trees Background. It turned out pretty spooky if I do say! 🙂

Next up, I have this fun little pumpkin banner card made with the new Pumpkin Patch stamp + die set. This is a full background stamp you can stamp and then add all the stems and cute faces to. You can also die cut out the individual pumpkins, which I love!

I added them each to the Pennant Stacklets die cuts that I stamped with Sugar Cube on the new Linen Background stamp ( ❤ ). I created the background for this panel with the new Mini Slim Spider Web stencil in Toffee and of course, the TE Rectangle Masking Stencil.

The sentiment on this card is the Mini Strips-Halloween cut out with the Mini Strips Die. These little pumpkins come about 1-2-3 with this quick stamping system! For more fall related projects, you don’t need to stamp the faces if you choose not to. Love these each time! 🙂

Next, I have this sweet little Mini Slim card featuring the new uber cute set Spooktacular and Spooktacular Dies. I love the little stamp sets from Much Sketch every time–adorable!

I couldn’t decide which image to use first and then I ended up using two of the adorable ghosts that I colored with Copic Markers. Again, I used the Mini Slim Spiderweb Stencil to create this background with Lavender Glaze ink and the TE Blending Brushes. I also used the previously released Mini Slim Trifold Template + Dies – Square and the Petite Scallop Mini Slim Stacklets.

This is the inside. I just had to be sure I oriented the spider webs correctly. 🙂  It’s a little party on the inside of the card too then! 🙂

The sentiments are from the Pennant Parade – Halloween. I so love those fonts! 🙂

Lastly, I thought I’d share these sweet little pumpkin treat holders using the new TE Project Kit – Pumpkin Candy Capsule! I am so excited about using these for Halloween. Treat containers are always super fun and these are SO quick, easy and super fun to make. I want to make more! 🙂

You just stick on the little faces and rub them on. They rub on and adhere beautifully! I highly recommend. 🙂 The you add the cute cork topper stems with the sweet felt leaves… a wee bit of twine if you’d like and voila! Adorable!

Don’t forget the candy! 🙂 I also decided I needed an acorn, so I covered one of the container toppers with brown microbeads using decoupage glue. I might find microbeads all over for a little while….shhhhh! 🙂

Gah–I do love Halloween treats! 🙂

Taylored Expressions: Mini Slims!

Hello and Happy Monday to you all! Today, I’m back  with some new SUPER FUN stuff from Taylored Expressions! I am definitely excited about this new size card to use. It’s in the slim line idea, but on a smaller scale–MINI SLIMS–one that speaks my language! Hooray! ❤

These are available from Taylored Expressions tomorrow, August 18th! Let’s get this party started!

First up, I made this sweet little Tri-fold card. You can purchase the Tri-Fold cards pre-cut and folded from TE, which I  recommend doing. All the folds are then accurate and ready to go! 🙂

There is also this super handy and essential little pack of goodies: Mini Slim Trifold Template + Dies – Square. The templates make centering and squaring up this die cut window a breeze! (They also create great masks!) Everything is thought of for you. This card is then THREE layers of Birthday fun! I also used the new Mini Slim Stencil – On the Dot, which is clearly a fast fave, because you’ll see it on a couple projects here today and more in the future. Wink. 😉

Celebrating YOU! I thought it would be fun to layer all the different colors with the Mini Slim Stencil – On the Dot too! It’s a nice simple intro into this card layout. Be sure to check out the rest of the TE Creative Team for their awesome cards though–good gosh! They are amazing and will make you go ahhhhh! 🙂

Of course, I used the cute patootie little Max & Millie stamp set colored with Copic Markers. 🙂

I created a little paper bow with some Cupcake Cardstock too. It was totally random, but fun to do! ❤

Next up, I have this sweet little love note card using the new Mini Slim Windows stencils. Here’s an example with the Circle one.

This little yeti from Mythical Grumplings is a crack up, right? Gah–he kills me! 🙂 This also has the new Petite Scallop Mini Slim Stacklets which I was so happy came out  with this release too–because I may or may not use it on almost all my cards….shhhhh! 🙂

I just did a little double stenciling with some Cupcake ink. I can’t wait to send this one. ❤

Next up, I used the Mini Slim Windows stencils, using the Square one this time. I shifted this stencils and flip flopped the inks to create this overlaid effect with the stencil/inks. I ❤ how it turned out and I can’t wait to do this again. The card is flat (great for mailing) and relatively simple, but the layers of ink add an interesting effect.  🙂

I also then just left the square stencil on to stamp the flowers from the Spring Stems set, creating a silhouette feel.  I finished this card off with a sentiment from the Simple Strips-Sympathy.

This card also used the new Petite Scallop Mini Slim Stacklets and the new Stitched Mini Slim Stacklets. They layer up beautifully! 🙂

And lastly, I had some fun creating this unicorn/pegasus card with the Dreamer set.  I thought it would be fun to try the reverse of the Circle stencil from the Mini Slim Windows stencils to create a space to stamp and color these little cuties. The little circles come with the stencil and I just kept them on there with some temporary adhesive.

I combined this with the new Mini Slim Zig Zag Stencil and again (shocker!), the Petite Scallop Mini Slim Stacklets. It’s a fun card for sure and I already mailed it to a friend! Wow! ❤

This NEW TE Mini Slim size is fun and refreshing to work with. The envelopes to coordinate with them make them all that much sweeter too! 🙂

Pinkfresh Studio: August! (+Giveaway!)

Hello and Happy Friday to us all! I am excited to be here today to share a couple cards I made with the lovely NEW August release from Pinkfresh Studio!

Hopefully you have arrived from Hussena’s Blog. If not, be sure to hop back HERE to not miss it!

Yay!! You are going to be loving the pretties in this release! Also, lots of great sentiments and alphabet dies–always a go-to! So, let’s get on with it, shall we?

This first card uses the new Thankful for Friends stamp set and Thankful for Friends coordinating die.

I always love a burst of color behind a black and white floral image, so I went with that idea here. I enjoy when flowers have enough detail to shine in black and white to make this technique work.

And this sentiment is the perfection for so many cards I send out! ❤ This card could easily be replicated using a bunch of the different sentiments from the set. I’m not going to lie: I debated about which one to use for this card! They are all lovely and so fitting for so many friends. ❤

Next up, I have the new Blushing Floral to create this gorgeous background detail paired with the new Heather Uppercase dies. What I enjoy, is that is time, the B&W is the background vs. the foreground and how that makes these images shine too! This time I went with the pop of color up front  with the Alpha dies, using slightly more subtle colors.

I definitely had the striped cardstock on my mind while making these cards, since I used that again here for this card. This alpha set has this fun outline that you can die cut either in the same cardstock or use a different color like I did here for this HI. 🙂 I think it would also be fun to just use the outline to create a fun sentiment…. I think I am going to try and do that and add that tomorrow? We’ll see! 🙂

Again, with this detailed floral, I find I often like to let it shine in black and white. I’m certain there will be amazing examples of these stamps being colored on the hop today! I can’t wait to see them myself–sure to be WOW’d!!

Before I forget GIVEAWAYS!!!

  • Pinkfresh Studio will be giving away the full release on the Pinkfresh blog, their IG feed & YouTube channel.

Taylored Expressions: Field Notes Kit Release!

Happy Tuesday! Today, we are having some nature fun celebrating the Field Notes Kit Release from Taylored Expressions! This kit is available over at Taylored Expressions NOW, August 11th!

The Floral set, Sketchbook Florals, is designed by the super talented Lori Craig and I am so excited for her!! These stamps are lovely Sketchbook Florals and the size of each is very manageable to create sweet cards or projects with. The sketchbook theme is evident in the design of these stamps and they evoke nothing by lovely, calming thoughts in my mind. 🙂

Let’s hop right into a card, shall we? This first one is one of my favorites. I can’t decide why, but I think it has a very soothing affect.

I used the Square Masking stencils and more masking to create this one. I stamped the flowers on the card, as well as on some masking papers to use. This card is  created in a simple layering system and it goes very smoothly. 🙂

With detailed floral images, I find it is often easy and welcoming to leave the rest of the card simple. I think I may need to go back and make a few more of this one. 🙂

Next up, I spent a good deal of time using  some TE Watercolors. Pretty sure I still have quite a stash of flowers on hand. ❤

The background stamp in this kit is called Rough Draft Background and its truly an instant fave for me! I’m probably going to have to hide it from myself so I don’t use it on all my cards. 🙂

I used the TE Masking stencils-Rectangles and did some blending and stamping inside that  space with Granny Smith and Sweet Basil before removing it. It creates a crisp mask EVERY time! ❤

I watercolored this flower with the TE Watercolors and added some TE Shimmer to the mix to create a little sparkle. Of course, you have to take my word for it, because this photo will not capture that. 🙂

The little tag in the kit is perfection to tie on with a little twine. 🙂 Paired up with the envelopes in the kit and stickers, and boom, mail a card to someone you love.

Next up, I have another one I watercolored simply with the TE watercolors. This might be my fave from the dozen or so I watercolored. 🙂

I created a simple background using the TE Blender Blushes and the Frayed Edge Stencil on a wonk. This is another fave card from this release. I am laughing because it is mostly Lavender Glaze, and generally speaking, lavender is not a fave of mine. But I do quite enjoy this lovely shade TE  shade and is so fitting for this series of cards: Perfection!

What a lovely sentiment, and I paired it with this sweet little date stamp also in the kit. I can’t wait to send this and commemorate August 2020 for a friend! ❤

Next up, I wanted to try and use a flower with just a little tad of Copic color to add just a hint of yellow. Paired once again with the Rough Draft Background in B&W, I enjoy this fun and different look.

I die cut the circle background with the Stitched Circles before finishing it all off with some stitching and the Clear TE Bits–which I cannot get enough of!

Here is another card using a TE Masking Square Window Stencil. A little ink blending with the TE Blender Brushes and then the stamping of this lovely detailed Floral from the kit: Voila! I just love a clean and simple card. ❤

I cut out the panel with the Stitched Rectangle Stacklets and add a little stitching to finish it all off.

Next up, I like to call this one my dried very special flower. 😉 ! I am not entirely sure how I feel about this flower being Toffee, but I must tell you, it does look better in person. I added a lot of TE Shimmer to this flower and it has that soft sparkle in person that sort of makes this card, if you will. 🙂

Either way, like or dislike, I am sharing because I do enjoy this background created with the TE Hexagon Masking Stencil and the the little dot stamp in the kit. This little dot stamp is the bees knees and it is one of those stamps you find yourself using often to just add a little something to a background so simply. It creates a lovely backdrop for these floral images!

The panel is created with the Petite Scallop Rectangle Stacklets….ALWAYS a go to! 🙂

Are you tired of cards yet? Can we ever be? 🙂

Lastly, I thought it would fun to try and layer this Frayed Edge Masking stencil in different colors to create a background. In doing that, I wanted to be sure the flower still stood out on its own. Once again, I went with keeping the flower B&W, with the goal for it to stand out. It’s sort of counter intuitive, if you ask me, but I think it works. 🙂

If there was ever a set this B&W technique works, it is this detailed Sketchbook Florals set by Lori.

I created a little different composition with this layout and then added a few TE Drip Drops to this one with some stitching to finish it all off.

Let’s Connect from Simon Says Stamp!

I am joining the fun over at Simon Says Stamp for the new Let’s Connect release!! Hooray for mailing cards and staying connected! 🙂

I am using the fabulous NEW SSS Stamp: Drawn Daises and you can find it HERE. The sentiment I used is from the previously released Just Because Word Mix 2. 🙂 I cut it all out with the SSS Basic Rectangles. This stamp is quite pretty! I’m not entirely sure I did it justice, but it was fun to create. 🙂 I stamped and white heat embossed this on some watercolor paper before painting it with my watercolors. I think this card could definitely be better with some more practice. Watercolor is tricky for me to use on images because I want to control it too much. 🙂 ha!

I wanted to make the Daisies pop, so I did a dark background. I am looking forward to sending this one out into the world! 🙂

Here are the Simon Says Stamp products I used:

Thanks to Simon Says Stamp for having me along to join in the Let’s Connect fun ! Be sure to check it all out >> HERE <<.

Have fun creating and mailing your cards! 🙂

Miss You!

Happy Weekend! Popping in super duper quick to share this fun card I made using the images from the Lawn Fawn/Ellen Hutson S’more the Merrier set that my friend Chari (Thank you, Chari! ❤ ) sent me to color for The Daily Marker 30 Day! We had a small gang of some coloring friends and we all stamped and swapped images to color throughout the month of July. I will have to post all the cards that came of the month on my blog sometime soon. It was so fun and a great way to stretch myself! 🙂

Anyway…on with the card….

I blended on several different Distress Inks over the Taylored Expressions Circle Masking Stencil (HERE) and then added the images I fussy cut and colored with Copic Markers. I think it’s safe to say I never made a background like this and it was fun to make. Room to improve, but when isn’t there? 🙂

Gah!! How cute are these little critters!? I used a much older sentiment set from Lawn Fawn for the speech bubble. You can find this cutie Lawn Fawn/Ellen Hutson S’more the Merrier set over at Ellen Hutson HERE. 🙂

Thank you to my friends Alyssa, Caren, Chari, Jen, Latisha and Lori for a FUN month of virtual crafting—coloring together from afar! ❤

Take care– Jill 🙂
