MFT Sketch #251 + Tag

photoMFT Sketch Challenge #251 begins today on the My Favorite Things Challenge & Inspiration Blog!

This week’s sketch:MFT_WSC_251Here is my take this week:

hawkins_jill_merry_wmI used watercolors on the background here and then used watercolors some more. This one is growing on me a little. I generally like things simpler, less busy. 🙂

hawkins_jill_merry_00_wmI didn’t get to make a second card for this Sketch. But I did make a fun tag for a little friend’s birthday party last week. So I’ll share that 😉

hawkins_jill_wish big_wmI don’t think the sequin’s glue was dry when I took this photo, but the rain was coming and it was getting dark out! Must have natural light! Haaaa! 🙂 Anywho, I wrote the little girl’s name in the blank space, tied it on the kraft bag, and voila! 🙂

Here is this week’s sketch:
MFT_WSC_241This is my card for the week:hawkins_jill_lets be friends_wmThe Encouraging Words stamps set is fabulous.

hawkins_jill_lets be friends_00_wmI love to inlay die cuts, so I couldn’t wait to try out these Scribbled Rose dies. More to come with those! 🙂

Next up: MFT Summer School! Session Three, Day Three 🙂 Hop over to the MFT Blog for the REAL lesson and all the link ups to fabulous cards by the MFT Team! 🙂

PrintToday’s Lesson: Hard vs. soft – For every hard line or edge you place on a card, the design is balanced by some softness, whether it be from a texture (like a ribbon) or a shape (like a circle); too much hard or soft might not work.

Here’s my take on this lesson:

hawkins_jill_for you_wmIt is definitely a literal take on this lesson, being that I used soft felt and all 😉 But my thinking was the angles added an edge.hawkins_jill_for you_00_wmIf you missed my cards from earlier lessons this week, you can click on these links: Monday & Tuesday. MFT Color Challenge #26!

MFT_ColorChallenge_PaintBook_26It’s the 4th Thursday of the month and BAM! Color Challenge #26 on the My Favorite Things Challenge & Inspiration blog.

Here’s my card for this Color Challenge:

hawkins_jill_love you_wmI had some technical difficulties (*cough cough*) with these colors. Do note that the color above is Steel Grey–that is the darker grey. LOL. One of my favorites! 🙂 I combined them together for some striped die cutting and hit it up with the Abstract Background! Another fave! 🙂

hawkins_jill_love you_00_wmI had to make a second card, because the first thing I thought of when I saw these colors was WATERMELON! We go through 1-3 of those a week in our house.

Here it is:

hawkins_jill_enjoy1_wmSummer! I made the watermelon seeds with the negative of the Blueprints 26 little balloon bow. 😉hawkins_jill_enjoy1_00_wm(Please excuse the bazarro lines in the photo above. Something wacky there?)

MFT Sketch #237 AND Summer School!

photoMFT Sketch Challenge #237 on My Favorite Things Challenge & Inspiration is starting today. In July here, we have Kalyn Kepner with us! Whoot!

Here is this week’s sketch:
MFT_WSC_237:This is my card for the week:

hawkins_jill_make a wish_wmI cannot get enough Abstraction! 🙂 Now it is in stamp and stencil form! LOVE.

hawkins_jill_make a wish_00_wmI used watercolors to paint the whole panel. It probably would have gone faster if I had done a couple triangles at once with the same color. But no. Did one. At. A. Time. It isn’t perfect, but I don’t think watercolor should be? I like things crisp, so this was good to do something different.

Bonus: Today is the 3rd day of MFT Summer School!

PrintBe sure to head over to the MFT Blog to read the lesson and link up to the other cards the MFT design team made. 🙂

Today is all about: Primary! Primary colors: Red, Yellow and Blue.

Print I took a little tweek on the red. 🙂

Here is my card:

MFT Sketch #236

photoMFT Sketch Challenge #236 on My Favorite Things Challenge & Inspiration is rolling out today! Oh and we have the talented Kalyn Kepner with us this month!!

Here is this week’s sketch:MFT_WSC_236This is my card for the week: hawkins_jill_wishbig_wmA little shaker action! How much do I enjoy these new background stamps!!? 🙂hawkins_jill_wishbig_00_wmI used the Wink of Stella to brush over the sentiment giving it a little something, but darn, that thing is hard to photograph, especially with the added acetate and shiny stars! Ha!! I think I’d just heat emboss it next time 😉

Blueprints 26: Oh yes!

I enjoyed making a second card with this sketch. I made these a week+ apart, but geesh, are there similarities or what? 😉

hawkins_jill_enjoy_wmThis Balloon Strings background makes my crafty heart go pitter-patter. What fun this can be! 🙂

hawkins_jill_enjoy_00_wm

The amount of debate I had over whether both of these balloons should have a string or not? You can see which way I went 🙂
