Avery Elle: Winter!

I have so many supplies that have been screaming at me to use them. So, I am doing just that! 🙂 This time, I busted out another favorite, Avery Elle.

My Grannie lives in sunny Florida and recently moved. I thought she would get a kick out of a “Cool Digs” igloo card in Florida! 🙂

hawkins_jill_cool digs_wmThis Distress ink watercolors look pretty dang cool in person, but yet, I just can’t get the photo to cooperate. (The photography saga goes on! Ha!! 🙂 )

hawkins_jill_cool digs_00_wmI thought it would be fun to do a tone on tone background for this jazzy tag. So I used the Happy Camper set and did just that. Delightful 🙂 The igloo and sentiment are from the fun set, Home Sweet Home. Love that teepee! 🙂

This works out to play along with the AEI♥U Challenge this month: Winter!Challenge 32Here’s just a few other Avery Elle projects I made previously: here, here, here, & here!

Avery Elle

This is my second entry for the AEI♥U Challenge this month: Non-White Card Base. I had a dental appointment this morning, so I had a lot of anxiety to craft through last night! 🙂 It’s funny, but true! Ha!

You can see my first go at it HERE. <—When my sewing machine rebelled. 🙂

Here’s my other card:

hawkins_jill_oh happy day_AEwmI enjoy these cute light bulbs! In hindsight, I would have done them all in white watercolor instead of the mix I used, but alas. 🙂

I’m happy I was able to participate in the AEI♥U Challenge this month with two cards! Just needed to ink these old friends up and take ’em for a spin.

Challenge 28

Here’s a few more previous Avery Elle projects (if you’re bored): here, here, here, here, here and here!

Avery Elle stamps: Bunting and Oh Happy Day.

the day my sewing machine got REAL mad…

I have been waiting years for my sewing machine to get angry with me, because I’m always sewing paper. Truth is, I’m not sure it’s ever seen fabric!? Long story short, it got REAL mad at me while making this card last night. Luckily, it didn’t go as awry as I thought it would. However, I’m not entirely pleased with its behavioral outcome either. Oh well…sometimes you just gotta roll. 😉

The AEI♥U Challenge this month is a Non-White Card Base!! Well, Kraft is like peanut butter to my jelly, so I went straight there. Haaaa!

Here’s my card…

hawkins_jill_thank you_AEwmhawkins_jill_thank you_AE_00_wmI’m glad I was able to participate in the AEI♥U Challenge this month! I love challenges and I like to partake and support them. 🙂

Avery Elle stamps: Rounded Diamonds and Many Thanks.

hello & …

hawkins_jill_ampersands_I made this card months ago, enjoyed it then…and still now! It’s that layered stamping. So fun! Though looking at it now, I’m amazed I centered this. I feel like I don’t do that often? Hmmmm…

This is one of those cards that, while you are making it, you sort of hold your breath as you get further along…hoping it all stamps out well! Especially because this is a woodblock stamp…a wee bit trickier (and in some respects, easier)! 🙂

Hero Arts: My first love in this wonderful crafty world 😉

hawkins_jill_to u from me_The AEI♥U Challenge this month is Inlaid Die Cuts!! Oh dear, one of my favorite things to do! So here’s my entry…To You From Me 😉

Non-holiday products to make a holiday card–Fun!

This is a lot of die cutting, and that panel takes a beating running it through the machine so much, but it’s worth it! So enjoyable. 🙂 A couple of tags stamped, cut out…and Bam! 😉

WCMD: Winners (hip) Hop!

wcmd_blog hopJill-Dewey-Hawkins-Thanks-card_WCMD_winner2014_blog_badgeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek! I just squeak all over again! I’m honored as a winner in the World Card Making Day contest! I’m certain there were dozens of awesome entries. I’m fortunate to be one of three winners in the “Thank You” category, along with Virginia and **Isha**(where you arrived from on this hop). Oh, the company I keep! 🙂 The talent! Garsh. I’m so glad I tried and threw my hat (card) in the ring–what a thrill!

SO MANY THANKS to Paper Crafts and Scrapbooking Magazine. So. Many. Including our appreciation for hosting this WCMD hop.

I was super excited to hear this was my winning card, because I gotta tell ya, I really enjoy this one—the white, colored stripes, stitching, lines, this LF die and TT sentiment…eeek! Happiness! 😉 The cardstock is pieced, sentiment die cut then inlaid. The panel is scored, forward and backward, and then stitched, matted, and adhered to a navy card base.

Made it, put it in the box, and mailed. Hence, I send a BIG Thank You to Stacy at PC&S for taking the time to photo this and send to me. Again furthering my admiration of this publication and all the great people who make it happen. 🙂 Thank You!

Instead of these cards being in the fourth issue of 2015, they are coming to you today, the fourth of December. Kind of fitting, but still incredibly sad the April issue will not exist. But, let’s stay on the happy today, shall we? Yesterday’s post and hop about did me in! 😦

You can follow my blog and leave me a comment below (by December 10th) telling me what your favorite part of Paper Crafts & Scrapbooking magazine is. I’ll pick one random winner to send a little Lawn Fawn sparkly surprise & a few bits of paper crafting fun out to…so check back after the 10th to see if it’s YOU! 🙂

Hop on to Virginia’s blog next! Now she’s skilled–watch out!

Here’s the other WCMD winners–be sure to stop by and leave them a note! I know I can’t wait to see their winning cards and do so myself! One of the biggest perks of this win: Getting to know these crafty ladies! 🙂

hawkins_jill_hello watercolors_The AEI♥U Challenge this week is KRAFT!! Hands down, kraft is my go-to. It’s my “white”! Funny enough, I needed white to watercolor, but I wanted kraft for a neutral matte & card base. I’ve never watercolored (much) before, but I did enjoy making this…Maybe I’ll do it again?! I have lots of room to improve 😉

Challenge 13

BTW-The ‘Hello’ from the “Oh Yeah” set, gets a workout around here! 🙂

say cheese…

Jill dewey hawkins_say cheeseThe Moxie Fab “Clicking Cameras” challenge sounded fun and my first thought was to “spray” cameras. Who knows why? 🙂

This card should have taken 10 minutes, but as it goes, it took much longer to land  because my first goes were too fussy! Ack! This back and forth will make me batty sometimes. But in the end, simple is ALWAYS best for me! 😉

Moxie Fab World Blog… 🙂

Thanks for popping by…very cool of you!

Jill 🙂

Supplies: Paper Smooches: We Totally Click, Hero Arts/ Sizzix: Instagram. Hero Arts Charcoal dye ink, Copics & sewing machine.

happy niner…

hawkins_jill_happy nine_I saw the Moxie Fab quicky challenge last week and could not stop thinking about it! Love that geometric color fabulousness! 🙂 (see below)

Anywhoozle–It also happens to be my “niece’s” NINTH birthday–gasp! So strangely enough, this worked out awesome for her, as the arrows and nine give a nod to the clock! hey hey!

I knew I’d never stamp perfectly, so I started this card out by being sure I didn’t line my triangles up exactly…I like the loose feel with this bold graphic…if that makes any sense!? Other note: I put 25 ink pads away after making this! I don’t know which is more crazy–the fact that I own well over 25 ink pads or that I put them away! HA! Fun to make!

Love the goodness Teri shares on the Moxie Fab World Blog… 🙂

Happy Birthday Eliseeloo! 🙂

Thanks for popping by…

Supplies: Paper Smooches: Design Motifs, Avery Elle: Oh Yeah, Lawn Fawn: Quinn’s 123’s, and Speech Bubble Border Die, Sizzix: I Heart This. Mostly Hero Arts dye inks, a couple Memories inks, one Adirondack ink & sewing machine.

Bits of Hello…

hawkins_jill_hello bits__When I saw the Avery Elle challenge this week was die cuts, well, be still my Avery Elle diecutting heart! 🙂 Mostly because my favorite die is made by Avery Elle: Chevron Bits. Love it. And I’ve been wanting to join in….so….

Challenge 12

Over the course of three days, ten minutes here and ten there, I got this done! Note the HUGE time saver is that I saved all the chevron bits I’d cut to make previous cards…(look familiar? check this ONE out too!) and hence, I finished! Just love the colorfulness together and of course, these bits. Bliss. 🙂

Smaller tags are inlaid, the large tag is tripled to give it a lil additional oomph 😉

Anywho–Thanks for popping in…
Jill 🙂
