Inspired by SRO! :)

Rockin’ along with MFT Sketch Challenge #270! (My Favorite Things Challenge & Inspiration blog.)photoThis may be my most literal take on any sketch ever. LOL. πŸ™‚

For this card, I was inspired by the one and only, my friend, Susan R. Opel. Susan literally writes the blog on inspiration, so I find it fitting. β™₯ SRO has an eye for fashion (and other fun) inspired card creations. Check out these examples of Susan’s awesome inspirations: HERE, HERE, and HERE. I mean, Yo! That’s fun. πŸ™‚

Way back in October (?), I was flipping through TV channels late one night, and saw Julianna Margulies on Stephen Colbert. Checkout her spectacular Chevron dress!! πŸ™‚ It stuck in my head, and I told Susan I would just have to make something inspired by it. πŸ˜‰

My Favorite Things: Sketch #259

photoMFT Sketch Challenge #259 starts on the My Favorite Things Challenge & InspirationΒ Blog today! Take a break from the holiday craze and join us! Only a couple left after this one for 2015!

This week’s sketch:MFT_WSC_259Here is my take this week:

hawkins_jill_happy holidays_wmPoof! I find this a refreshing take on the Christmas cards. Do you? When I finished this card, I thought, Dang, I think Erin has rubbed off on me! Something about its overall feel reminds me of Erin’s fabulously bold style. πŸ™‚

hawkins_jill_happy holidays_00_wmI originally had the three leafy greens exactly like the sketch has them. It looked awkward, so I took those three sketch elements and bundled them. I love to see when people follow Sketches tightly. (Check out Miriam‘s because she’s really good like that). I sometimes (ok, often) end up tweeking a few things on my cards. πŸ˜‰

I didn’t get to making another Sketch card, but I did make this fun guy:

hawkins_jill_jingle_00_wmI tried soooooooooo long to resist ordering this set, because I felt pretty good about my collection of Christmas stamps. But, I’m weak. This one particular Santa made me order it. Plus, I did not have any Santa stamps. So obviously, it’s justifiable. πŸ˜‰ πŸ˜‰hawkins_jill_jingle_wmI clear embossed his outline and then used watercolors to give him color! Too fun! πŸ™‚

My Favorite Things: Sketch #255

photoMFT Sketch Challenge #255 begins today on the My Favorite Things Challenge & InspirationΒ Blog! Hope you can find some crafty time and join us! There is a MFT Gift Card waiting to be had! πŸ™‚

This week’s sketch:

MFT_WSC_255Here is my take this week:

hawkins_jill_warm wishes_wmI thought this was a fun and WAY different color combo for me. I flipped the sketch, swapped the rectangle for a circle, and put it all together! πŸ™‚hawkins_jill_warm wishes_00_wmI didn’t get around to making a second Sketch card this week. I’ve been trying to get a little ahead and also making MANY cards for friends and family that have been kind enough to help me on my fundraising efforts. I’m so grateful. πŸ™‚

hawkins_jill_I'm so Grateful_02_wmI originally made a card almost identical to these for Sketch #245. πŸ™‚hawkins_jill_I'm so Grateful_01_wm hawkins_jill_I'm so Grateful_03_wmI’ve made and completed just these cards, so far. They look awesome together! This is typically not my thing, to make many of the same card. But for the right cause(s), I did it! I think the best part is designing the cards and picking the products, so I rarely make doubles+ etc. πŸ˜‰

Hope your weekend has been splendid! It’s time for the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge!! #271! Hop over to see all the fun the team made πŸ™‚

Here’s the sketch for this week:

Here is my card for the week:

hawkins_jill_you're like_0_wmI’m unsure as to who made this!? Between the color combo and flowers (yes, again!), I need to check my temperature. Haaaaa! I try to stretch out of my comfort zone now and again, and let me tell you, this one is a huge stretch for me. πŸ˜‰ Should hold me over for awhile.

hawkins_jill_you're like_wmI had to splatter the inside of the card to balance myself out a bit. LOL.

hawkins_jill_you're like_00_wmOh, and be sure to stretch your dies! I did so a few times on this one with both the Blueprints 23 and the Jumbo Fishtail Banner STAX. You can get a bigger bang from your supplies. πŸ™‚

Be sure to check out the Sweet Sunday Sketch Blog for all the different takes! πŸ™‚

PrintToday is Inspirational Day two on the MFT Blog…Go check it out!

I enjoy this quote by Dr. Suess. It is so simple, but if you stop and think, it makes you wonder. πŸ™‚ It is so fitting for kids and for myself. Plus, I think it’s a great motto to be sure and do both. I find myself doing this every time I sit down to make a project. Thinking about what I want to make and then wonder how I can use this or that. It’s both deep and simply practical right? πŸ™‚ Plus I freaking love this graphic Laina made. Ahhhh…. πŸ™‚

MFT_InspiredBy_SuessHere’s a card I was inspired to make:

hawkins_jill_congratssqueal_wmI thought this would be a super cute card for a kiddo! That lil’ squeal! πŸ™‚

hawkins_jill_congratssqueal_00_wmCross stitched dies: Thud.

Hope you’ll hop over and read more this week on the MFT Blog! It’s sure to get your mind turning! πŸ™‚ Oh, and I believe I heard the word prizes!!

MFT_ColorChallenge_PaintBook_17Today starts Color Challenge #17 on the My Favorite Things Challenge & Inspiration blog…I love me some COLOR!! Steel Blue! Whoot! Primitive White is also a fav! πŸ˜‰

This week we are collaborating with SRM Stickers! They sent me this *oh so very fabulous* kraft bag. I mean really, I could use kraft bags for EVERYTHING! krafty bags= πŸ™‚ Warning: I hopped over to their website and blog–hmmmm I may or not have spent a descent amount of time there. Some super fun stuff to see!! πŸ˜‰

Bee line it over to today & find out all the details! Here’s a peek πŸ™‚hawkins_jill_CC17_00_wmWhatya say–another project? Whoot!

hawkins_jill_CC17_00_1WMI had literally had 30 minutes to put something together. Fortunately, I had a semi-plan already in my head. I find this makes me work faster. Though sometimes often that doesn’t quite come out like you picture in your head! Lol. Anyway, I thought this was fun to use the remainder of my cover-up. I have about 1/8″ strip left. I used it ALL πŸ˜‰

hawkins_jill_CC17_01_WMThis project was made with the following supplies by My Favorite Things: Polka Dot Cover-up, Die-Namics Stitched Circle STAX, Blueprints #23 (dies), Totally Happy, BG Diagonal stripes (stamps), Black Licorice (Hybrid ink), Versamark, Steel Blue, Primitive White, Coral Crush, Tropical Teal, Kraft (card stock)Β  πŸ˜‰
