My Favorite Things: Sketch #259

photoMFT Sketch Challenge #259 starts on the My Favorite Things Challenge & InspirationΒ Blog today! Take a break from the holiday craze and join us! Only a couple left after this one for 2015!

This week’s sketch:MFT_WSC_259Here is my take this week:

hawkins_jill_happy holidays_wmPoof! I find this a refreshing take on the Christmas cards. Do you? When I finished this card, I thought, Dang, I think Erin has rubbed off on me! Something about its overall feel reminds me of Erin’s fabulously bold style. πŸ™‚

hawkins_jill_happy holidays_00_wmI originally had the three leafy greens exactly like the sketch has them. It looked awkward, so I took those three sketch elements and bundled them. I love to see when people follow Sketches tightly. (Check out Miriam‘s because she’s really good like that). I sometimes (ok, often) end up tweeking a few things on my cards. πŸ˜‰

I didn’t get to making another Sketch card, but I did make this fun guy:

hawkins_jill_jingle_00_wmI tried soooooooooo long to resist ordering this set, because I felt pretty good about my collection of Christmas stamps. But, I’m weak. This one particular Santa made me order it. Plus, I did not have any Santa stamps. So obviously, it’s justifiable. πŸ˜‰ πŸ˜‰hawkins_jill_jingle_wmI clear embossed his outline and then used watercolors to give him color! Too fun! πŸ™‚

MFT Color Challenge #35

Today, Color Challenge #35 is on the My Favorite Things Challenge & Inspiration blog! I hope you can hop on over to see what the rest of the Design Team made. Each person really brings their own unique style to their projects. I eagerly wait to read the posts myself! πŸ™‚MFT_ColorChallenge_PaintBook_35Here is my card for this Color Challenge:

hawkins_jill_remember that_wmThe Amazing stamp set is a staple sentiment set. It’s font is simple (my fave!), and therefore can fit gracefully into any card type. And the Stitched Stars STAX is another staple. Products like these, are crafty money well spent in my book because of their versatility. Dig that. πŸ™‚ hawkins_jill_remember that_00_wmI have another Color Challenge card waiting to be photographed. So I’ll post that one very soon too. I just can’t get a decent photo without the daylight. And well, it’s 10pm. Haaaa!! See you back for that card soon!

MFT Color Challenge #27 & Summer School!!

MFT_ColorChallenge_PaintBook_27It’s the 2nd Thursday of the month and Boom! Color Challenge #27 on the My Favorite Things Challenge & Inspiration blog. PLUS–MFT Summer School!! πŸ™‚

My card for this Color Challenge:

hawkins_jill_gold star_wmThe new Fringe die has lots of possibilities. Here I die cut the Fringe with the Stitched Basic Edges die, to add a little interest. πŸ™‚

(The Delicata Gold ink holds the embossing powder, but I decided to add another layer with Versamark as well. πŸ˜‰ )

PrintBonus! Today is Day Four of MFT Summer School: Session Three. Today is all about Color Saturation. Hop over to the MFT Blog to read about it all. Susan R. Opel will school us all real good! πŸ˜‰

Color Saturation – The intensity of color. The more white or gray that’s added, the less saturated the color becomes. Cards tend to work best when the saturation of the colors are on a similar scale.

Here is my card: I squealed with delight when I finished. You do that too sometimes right? πŸ˜‰

hawkins_jill_think happy_wmI definitely lean toward the bright/darker colors rather than the muted ones. I am often in awe of people who use the lighter colors successfully. I love these saturated colors together! πŸ™‚

hawkins_jill_think happy_00_wmI die cut the new Four Way Chevron Cover-up several times and pieced together. Then I die cut that panel with the Stripes cover-up and pieced that together. Crazy clapping ensued. You just never know what things are going to look like and I do not enjoy wasting time. LOL πŸ™‚ This delights me ever so very much!
