hawkins_jill_dream big_00_wmI feel like I have too many neutrals on this card, but I’m going to run with it anyway. Mind the tidbit of orange too. 😉

MFT Color Challenge #28

MFT_ColorChallenge_PaintBook_28It’s the 2nd Thursday of the month and off we go! Color Challenge #28 is on the My Favorite Things Challenge & Inspiration blog! Be sure to hop there as the other girls CERTAINLY rocked this! 🙂

My go at it: I am so digging Tropical Teal right now! 🙂

hawkins_jill_M_wmI know, I used the Four Way Chevron Cover-up again…but I had to! It’s awesome!! 🙂

hawkins_jill_M_00_wmIn my continuing effort to make quicker cards now-and-again (ha!), I made this one below with remnants and pieces made previously for other cards. That sure makes it quicker!! LOL 😉hawkins_jill_good things_wmThen, I accidentally starting stitching in the wrong place. Soooo, that placement was decided. Nuts. I’m not sure I’m loving it overall, but there are some takeaways for sure 😉hawkins_jill_good things_00_wm

MFT_WSC_241This is my card for the week:hawkins_jill_lets be friends_wmThe Encouraging Words stamps set is fabulous.

hawkins_jill_lets be friends_00_wmI love to inlay die cuts, so I couldn’t wait to try out these Scribbled Rose dies. More to come with those! 🙂

PrintToday’s Lesson: Hard vs. soft – For every hard line or edge you place on a card, the design is balanced by some softness, whether it be from a texture (like a ribbon) or a shape (like a circle); too much hard or soft might not work.

Here’s my take on this lesson:

hawkins_jill_for you_wmIt is definitely a literal take on this lesson, being that I used soft felt and all 😉 But my thinking was the angles added an edge.hawkins_jill_for you_00_wmIf you missed my cards from earlier lessons this week, you can click on these links: Monday & Tuesday. MFT Summer School: Gallon/Quart/Pint

PrintToday starts another fun week on the MFT Blog! MFT Summer School: Session TWO! Oh yes! 🙂

Today’s lesson:

PrintThe ol’ Gallon/Quart/Pint trick…You use a lot of one color, a little of the next, and even less of the next. Such fun! I could do these little lessons all day. I think I always say that, but it’s true! 🙂

Anywho, on with my card:

hawkins_jill_miss you_wmMy card here sort of takes the gallon to the extreme and the others to the brink, but you get the picture. I have been trying to stamp more, and kept this one simple. I tend to die cut, so I like to be sure I mix it up here and there 🙂 Watercolor: The untamed medium.

You’ll definitely want to hop over to the MFT Blog to see everything that Susan wrote up today. That’s where the real schooling comes in 😉

hawkins_jill_miss you_00_wmHope you can check out all the surely fun projects. I can’t wait!! 🙂 The My Favorite Things blog is sure to have lots of good stuff this week.

Today! MFT Sketch #232

photoSketch Challenge #232 on My Favorite Things Challenge & Inspiration is rockin’ out today. You know this team made fabulous, so be sure to go SEE them all!

Here is this week’s sketch:MFT_WSC_232Here’s my take: It’s a wee bit twisted up. It happens 🙂

hawkins_jill_have a spiffy_wmI think I’d inlay these circles if I made this again though ;). Go figure.

hawkins_jill_have a spiffy_00_wmI warned about the Abstract Cover Up! I’m going to have to hide it for awhile 🙂

I likely won’t get an extra card made each week this month, but I managed for today. It’s a simple one, but oh so fun! And don’t these kind always take awhile anyway? Ha 🙂hawkins_jill_miss you0_wmThese Happy Pandas are fun little guys to send in the mail. 🙂
