I’ve been really trying to keep up with Kathy Racoosin’s: The Daily Marker 30 Day Color Challenge. I think the idea is brilliant and I’ve always enjoyed seeing what people make and how they keep up. Well, I thought I’d give it a whirl! 🙂
This card below is what I started on day #14, and finished on day #15. I used the Jumbo Dot Cover-Up as a stencil and colored those in with Watercolor pencils. Didn’t know where this card was going when I started, but this is where I landed. 🙂
I think this is the first card I’ve actually completed for the 30 Day Color Challenge? I’m good with that. It’s more about the coloring, trying, and experimenting for me anyway. Plus, the good news is, I have a lot of bits in the hopper for future cards! 🙂
Kathy is amazing at coloring. Geesh.
And you know who else has amazing skills? My MFT C&I Temmates. Check out their blogs for inspiration. (Links below)

Today’s Lesson: Hard vs. soft – For every hard line or edge you place on a card, the design is balanced by some softness, whether it be from a texture (like a ribbon) or a shape (like a circle); too much hard or soft might not work.
Here’s my take on this lesson:
It is definitely a literal take on this lesson, being that I used soft felt and all 😉 But my thinking was the angles added an edge.If you missed my cards from earlier lessons this week, you can click on these links: Monday & Tuesday. Find me on Instagram here: jilldhawkins

Here’s my card for the week:
I double die cut the Jumbo Dot Cover Up after inlaying the first set of circles. When you do this, you can’t exactly tell where you are cutting because the die is solid, but it worked out. 🙂Polka dots… love ’em! 🙂
I made a second card with some left over dots. It’s been a week of “hmmm, that’s not quite what I was thinking it would look like…”. Too funny. It’s still fun to send a shaker, right?
I popped up the black front panel in hopes that Sour Apple would show through the window a bit, but…not so much. Ha!! 😉It’s already growing on me more though. 🙂

Also this week, the MFT Stamps Blog is all about Shakers!!Here’s one for today!I recommend static treating all parts of your shaker card before you put the goodies inside. I did that here, but as you can see, some still sticks wacky. But hey, that’s the nature of the card. They are meant to shake, so a still shot is never quite as enjoyable as a good SHAKE!! Ha!! 😉 The MFT Blueprints #24 has sequin die cuts, so that is what I used here. The possibilities are endless to make shaker cards. 🙂
