MFT_WSC_241This is my card for the week:hawkins_jill_lets be friends_wmThe Encouraging Words stamps set is fabulous.

hawkins_jill_lets be friends_00_wmI love to inlay die cuts, so I couldn’t wait to try out these Scribbled Rose dies. More to come with those! πŸ™‚

PrintToday’s Lesson: Hard vs. soft – For every hard line or edge you place on a card, the design is balanced by some softness, whether it be from a texture (like a ribbon) or a shape (like a circle); too much hard or soft might not work.

Here’s my take on this lesson:

hawkins_jill_for you_wmIt is definitely a literal take on this lesson, being that I used soft felt and all πŸ˜‰ But my thinking was the angles added an edge.hawkins_jill_for you_00_wmIf you missed my cards from earlier lessons this week, you can click on these links: Monday & Tuesday. MFT Color Challenge #26!

MFT_ColorChallenge_PaintBook_26It’s the 4th Thursday of the month and BAM! Color Challenge #26 on the My Favorite Things Challenge & Inspiration blog.

Here’s my card for this Color Challenge:

hawkins_jill_love you_wmI had some technical difficulties (*cough cough*) with these colors. Do note that the color above is Steel Grey–that is the darker grey. LOL. One of my favorites! πŸ™‚ I combined them together for some striped die cutting and hit it up with the Abstract Background! Another fave! πŸ™‚

hawkins_jill_love you_00_wmI had to make a second card, because the first thing I thought of when I saw these colors was WATERMELON! We go through 1-3 of those a week in our house.

Here it is:

hawkins_jill_enjoy1_wmSummer! I made the watermelon seeds with the negative of the Blueprints 26 little balloon bow. πŸ˜‰hawkins_jill_enjoy1_00_wm(Please excuse the bazarro lines in the photo above. Something wacky there?)

Here’s a card a made with So Rad and of course, some of My Favorite Things…including some of the fun new June goodness!

I’m a big fan of stickers, have been since I was a kid. I don’t tend to use them on my cards, but now I’m thinking…hmmmm? Why? Lol. These stickers are fabulous because you can also peel them up and re-stick them elsewhere, if you err. Ask me how I know! πŸ˜‰

hawkins_jill_you're like_0_wmI’m unsure as to who made this!? Between the color combo and flowers (yes, again!), I need to check my temperature. Haaaaa! I try to stretch out of my comfort zone now and again, and let me tell you, this one is a huge stretch for me. πŸ˜‰ Should hold me over for awhile.

hawkins_jill_you're like_wmI had to splatter the inside of the card to balance myself out a bit. LOL.

hawkins_jill_you're like_00_wmOh, and be sure to stretch your dies! I did so a few times on this one with both the Blueprints 23 and the Jumbo Fishtail Banner STAX. You can get a bigger bang from your supplies. πŸ™‚

MFT Sketch #224 AND Shaker!

photoSketch Challenge #224 TODAY on My Favorite Things Challenge & Inspiration blog!! Sure to be rockin’ cards by my teammates! πŸ™‚

Here’s a peek at my card this week: Die-namics Stitched Jumbo Fishtail Banner STAX. Oh yea! πŸ™‚hawkins_jill_sketch224_00_wmI used the Die-namics Stitched Jumbo Fishtail Banner STAX repeatedly to get that one banner. It came together so well. LOVE that! Go check it and all the other fabulousness from the DT on the MFT Card Challenges blog today!

Here’s the sketch πŸ™‚

MFT_WSC_224Also this week, the MFT Stamps Blog is all about Shakers!!PrintHere’s one for today!hawkins_jill_sending happy_wmI recommend static treating all parts of your shaker card before you put the goodies inside. I did that here, but as you can see, some still sticks wacky. But hey, that’s the nature of the card. They are meant to shake, so a still shot is never quite as enjoyable as a good SHAKE!! Ha!! πŸ˜‰ The MFT Blueprints #24 has sequin die cuts, so that is what I used here. The possibilities are endless to make shaker cards. πŸ™‚
