Hugs

I was delighted to see the Ellen Hutson Mix it Up Challenge is with Neat & Tangled! I was finally able to make a couple of cards last night for the challenge. Whoot! I used N & T’s Scandinavian Prints and Ellen Hutson’s All Inside stamp and die set. A match made in delightfulness! 🙂

hawkins_jill_hugs_wmThis little bear is just the cutest and I think it is genius that the die cuts him so that he can hold things! Too fun! Mixed with the extremely versatile Scandinavian Prints for a background. I was originally thinking I’d give them stems, and then I decided I liked them just like this. If I did it again, I’d bring them down a bit. 🙂

hawkins_jill_hugs_00_wmI should note that I have NEVER tried no line coloring before! I’m not even sure how I decided to do it here? I was thinking ombré, and then next thing I knew….ha! I never knew how much i relied and on the lines until I tried this. I can’t say that I enjoyed it either. Haaaa! If you want to see no line coloring at its finest, check out my friend Alice’s work HERE. Alice always blows my little coloring mind. 🙂

I also used two dies from My Favorite Things on this card: Wonky Stitched Rectangle STAX and the Stitched Fishtail Flag STAX. Staples I tell ya. 🙂

Check out the fun of this Mix it Up Challenge HERE, and you can find my other entry HERE. 🙂

MFT Sketch #278

Here’s my take on MFT Sketch Challenge #278! This comes from the My Favorite Things Challenge & Inspiration Blog!photoI soooo enjoy the MFT Cover-Ups. 🙂

hawkins_jill_thank u really_wmI blocked the card stocks and then die cut the panel. After that was cut, I inlaid the pieces, alternating their original positions.  I thought I’d reinforced the channel ways with some white strips.  Enjoyable. 😉hawkins_jill_thank u really_00_wmMy card is made with supplies at My Favorite Things. Die-namics: Four Way Chevron Cover-Up, Stitched Fishtail Flag STAX, Blueprints 13. Stamps: Thanks So Very Much. MFT Sketch #277

Here’s my take on MFT Sketch Challenge #277! This comes from the My Favorite Things Challenge & Inspiration Blog!photoI thought I’d get ahead for either Teacher Appreciation or more likely, the end of the school year! 🙂 My son’s teacher is beyond AMAZING! And I like to tell her that. ❤ hawkins_jill_teacher_wmI thought this was a little different take on the sketch this week. I clear embossed the Roses All Over BG and then rubbed in distress inks. Pretty quick and easy, which is what I like these days! 🙂

MFT Sketch #275

Here’s my take on MFT Sketch Challenge #275! (My Favorite Things Challenge & Inspiration blog.)photoAlmost a literal take…almost 🙂 hawkins_jill_even though_wmI stamped the flowers with watered down Distress Inks. Kind of a fun-little-something-different. Then I watercolored the background by mixing distress colors. I must get my hands on that Twisted Citron Distress Pad. 😉

MFT Sketch 267, Turtley Cool

Squeaking in my take on MFT Sketch Challenge #267! (Check it out: My Favorite Things Challenge & Inspiration blog.)photoThis turtle from Birdie Brown: <3. I flipped the sketch a little and tweaked it, but it’s there! 🙂

hawkins_jill_aloha_wmShe’s basking in the Sun! Ahhhh Sun! 🙂

hawkins_jill_aloha_00_wmI colored this Turtle for Day 15 of Kathy Racoosin’s The Daily Marker, 30 Day Color Challenge. I completed Kathy’s last 30 Day challenge, and I figured this time I would try to do part time. But so far, I’ve managed every day! Which is great, because I usually spend my time die cutting! 🙂

My card is made with the following supplies at My Favorite Things: Die-namics: Stitched Traditional Tag STAX, Die-namics Stitched Fishtail Flags STAX, Die-namics Stitched Mini Scalloped Circles STAX. Stamps: BB Polynesian Paradise. Card stock and Black Licorice Hybrid ink. Patterned Paper: My Mind’s Eye.
