The Final Sweet Sunday Sketch

Today begins the new Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge #300. It is also the very last Sweet Sunday Sketch. Dang. I did not enjoy typing that. 😦 *sniff*

The Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge was started by Karen Giron and has been around for 6+ years. What a lovely group of ladies to hang with. ❀

I am so thankful to my sweet, crafty friend Jodi, for asking me along, and to Karen for being so very welcoming and freaking funny! I am so cookoo over these girls talents!

I then, had the pleasure of “meeting” the whole team, and…They. Are. Fabulous. It’s great that everyone brings their own style every week. I so dig that. In the short time I’ve been along, I’ve had so much fun. We can have complete conversations speaking in #hashtags. It is so silly funny, I find myself laughing at my screen. Often.

I am going to miss these ladies every week. They have all been so welcoming to me as a late comer to their small group, and I truly appreciate their inky warmth. πŸ˜‰

Be sure to click over to the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge Blog post to read more about it. I started reading Karen’s post and had to stop. I will definitely be hopping over to read it today. 😦

Without further adieu, here is the final sketch:

Here is my final Sweet Sunday Sketch card:

MFT Summer School: Session Three. Go!

MFT_SummerSchool3_MFTTVMy Favorite Things: Summer School Session Three has a bell ringing on the MFT Blog this week! πŸ™‚ The fun kind of Summer School!

Today’s lesson:PrintCreate. Repeat. Create. Repeat. πŸ˜‰

Repetition: Repeating visual elements such as line, color, shape, texture, value, or image tends to unify the total effect of a card’s design as well as create rhythm.

You’ll want to hop over to the MFT Blog to read all the knowledge. Sure to be another week of Awesome there.

Here’s my take on the lesson: Stamp cute turtle. Smile. Repeat. πŸ™‚

hawkins_jill_saltwater kisses_wm

This turtle. Gah. Adore.

They are from the August Release: Birdie Brown’s Polynesian Paradise.

There is only one turtle in this set, but I needed one facing in the other direction too. So I stamped him/her on some acetate and used that as a reverse stamp. I think there is a *better way* to do this, but it worked. πŸ™‚ I added a little love, colored with pencils, matted, stitched and voila!!

hawkins_jill_saltwater kisses_00_wmHope you can check out all the fun πŸ™‚ The My Favorite Things blog is sure to rock this week.

MFT Summer School: Complementary

PrintDay TWO of fun on the MFT Blog! MFT Summer School: Session Two! Sharpen your pencils! πŸ™‚

Today’s lesson:PrintComplementary sometimes just happens, but it is a quick way to pick your colors if you get stuck. They are opposite colors on the color wheel…such as yellow/purple, orange/blue, red/green…Β You’ll definitely want to hop over to the MFT Blog to see what Susan wrote up for today’s lesson. That’s where the real schooling is πŸ˜‰

There is also a great download for your school notebook πŸ˜‰

Here’s my card:

hawkins_jill_you're the coolest_wmThis was a very happy accident. I wasn’t making this card! I was going to edge a piece of card stock with this Notebook Edge die:

As I did, I got this negative piece and thought it was TOO fun to just leave in the scrap pile…so these little strips happened instead. Hence this card.

hawkins_jill_you're the coolest__00_wmThis reminds me so much of that pom-pom fringe that was used to often in the 70’s/80’s? I remember pink curtains somewhere in my world that had that pom-pom fringe. Awesome. πŸ™‚ Stretching those supplies! Hooray! πŸ™‚

Hope you can check out all the surely fun projects today too πŸ™‚ The My Favorite Things blog is where to hop to!

MFT Summer School: Gallon/Quart/Pint

PrintToday starts another fun week on the MFT Blog! MFT Summer School: Session TWO! Oh yes! πŸ™‚

Today’s lesson:

PrintThe ol’ Gallon/Quart/Pint trick…You use a lot of one color, a little of the next, and even less of the next. Such fun! I could do these little lessons all day. I think I always say that, but it’s true! πŸ™‚

Anywho, on with my card:

hawkins_jill_miss you_wmMy card here sort of takes the gallon to the extreme and the others to the brink, but you get the picture. I have been trying to stamp more, and kept this one simple. I tend to die cut, so I like to be sure I mix it up here and there πŸ™‚ Watercolor: The untamed medium.

You’ll definitely want to hop over to the MFT Blog to see everything that Susan wrote up today. That’s where the real schooling comes in πŸ˜‰
