MFT Color Challenge #28

MFT_ColorChallenge_PaintBook_28It’s the 2nd Thursday of the month and off we go! Color Challenge #28 is on the My Favorite Things Challenge & Inspiration blog! Be sure to hop there as the other girls CERTAINLY rocked this! ๐Ÿ™‚

My go at it: I am so digging Tropical Teal right now! ๐Ÿ™‚

hawkins_jill_M_wmI know, I used the Four Way Chevron Cover-up again…but I had to! It’s awesome!! ๐Ÿ™‚

hawkins_jill_M_00_wmIn my continuing effort to make quicker cards now-and-again (ha!), I made this one below with remnants and pieces made previously for other cards. That sure makes it quicker!! LOL ๐Ÿ˜‰hawkins_jill_good things_wmThen, I accidentally starting stitching in the wrong place. Soooo, that placement was decided. Nuts. I’m not sure I’m loving it overall, but there are some takeaways for sure ๐Ÿ˜‰hawkins_jill_good things_00_wm

MFT_WSC_241This is my card for the week:hawkins_jill_lets be friends_wmThe Encouraging Words stamps set is fabulous.

hawkins_jill_lets be friends_00_wmI love to inlay die cuts, so I couldn’t wait to try out these Scribbled Rose dies. More to come with those! ๐Ÿ™‚

Next up: MFT Summer School! Session Three, Day Three ๐Ÿ™‚ Hop over to the MFT Blog for the REAL lesson and all the link ups to fabulous cards by the MFT Team! ๐Ÿ™‚

PrintToday’s Lesson: Hard vs. soft โ€“ For every hard line or edge you place on a card, the design is balanced by some softness, whether it be from a texture (like a ribbon) or a shape (like a circle); too much hard or soft might not work.

Here’s my take on this lesson:

hawkins_jill_for you_wmIt is definitely a literal take on this lesson, being that I used soft felt and all ๐Ÿ˜‰ But my thinking was the angles added an edge.hawkins_jill_for you_00_wmIf you missed my cards from earlier lessons this week, you can click on these links: Monday & Tuesday. MFT Summer School: Asymmetry

MFT_SummerSchool3_MFTTVMy Favorite Things: Summer School Session Three rolls on! Day 2.
Print

Symmetry balanced proportions and Asymmetry The placement of non-identical forms to either side of a balancing point in a way that the two sides seem to be of the same visual weight but arenโ€™t.

You want to pop over to the MFT Blog to be schooled. These lessons are well put together by Susan. ๐Ÿ™‚

Here’s my take on the lesson: Asymmetry.

hawkins_jill_lean on me_wmI’m all about symmetry in architecture. But there’s something about card making that makes it fun to rebel. ๐Ÿ™‚

MFT Sketch #240

photoMFT Sketch Challenge #240 on My Favorite Things Challenge & Inspiration begins rockin’ today!

Here is this week’s sketch:MFT_WSC_240This is my card for the week: One of my favorite Sketch cards to date. LOVE these dies.

hawkins_jill_you got this_wmI used a Fuse Green card base and stamped the new Wonky Chevron background on the inside. Adds a little fun for the recipient ๐Ÿ™‚ “You Got This” = Awesomesauce.

hawkins_jill_you got this_00_wmI really enjoyed this week’s sketch, so I made another card. Then I had ideas for at least three more, but, it was almost midnight. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Some other day…

hawkins_jill_congrats_wmThose little flags use the new August released Fringe die! Oh goodness, that’s a fun one too! ๐Ÿ™‚ The Primitive White base gives a nice warmth to the card.

hawkins_jill_congrats_00_wmThis one is being mailed to a friend…and it is WAY overdue. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ
