Taylored Expressions: Teacher and Grad Release!

One of the cards I make the most is Teacher cards and so for me, it’s a fun day atΒ  Taylored Expressions –there are lots of new goodies to celebrate all the Teachers and Grads in our lives! πŸ™‚

First up today, I am using the new Full Circle-School. I stamped it, heat embossed it and then I die cut it with one of my most used stacklets for such occasions: Apple Stacklets.

I decided this would be fun on a Mini Slim card and so I used both the Mini Slim Stitched Stacklets and the Mini Slim Petite Scallop Stacklets. I also stamped the Full Circle-School in tone-on-tone with Toffee ink on Toffee cardstock. I seem to use Toffee often on Teacher cards? I think that might be because I like it with the Red Pepper apple. πŸ™‚

I added a bit of twine to the stem after I blended on some green inks. I white heat embossed the sentiment on vellum and stitched that on the panel. Before I adhered everything to the card base, I decided to blend on some Sugar Cube ink to the Oreo top fold Mini Slim card. To finish it off, I used the new Cosmic Bits!

Next up, I thought I’d veer from a typical Teacher card color palette. I love how this turned out! I used the new I Pick You stamp and stencil.

I used Confetti Cake with the stencil and stamped the apples with Granny Smith, Cupcake and Toffee. I love these stamps that have the coordinating little dies for cutting out the little apples (or pumpkins, snowmen, etc. in the past). Pretty sure I definitely need to order another little apple die.

I thought this was a fun and a slightly different way to put on the sentiment. Of course, in true Jill style, I used the same sentiment on both cards today! πŸ˜‚ I don’t know how I do that, but I do it all the time. However, I promise there are lots of great sentiments in this set besides the one I used, twice! haaaa!

Oh and I stamped the Inside Scoop- Teacher on the inside and completely forgot to take a photo of that. Another thing I do all the time! πŸ™‚ Ack!

And BONUS TIME!! There is a NEW Big Grumpy Grad download to make some fun celebratory cards for Graduation and really, for anytime. There are a few sentiments that work for everyday congrats too, which I love!

I was laughing so heard when I read this one! πŸ™‚

I colored Big Grumpy-Bear with Copic Markers and then masked off this background area before using the Confetti Toss stencil and Stickles-Nebula paste. I love that Nebula paste because it has these cute little stars in it too! πŸ™‚

Next up, I thought it would be fun to use this sentiment. Also usuable for so many occasions. 🀣 Congrats you took out the trash! Here’s a card! I kid, but you know what I’m saying. I love this little bit of snark for everyday or for those Grads with the same silly sense of humor too. πŸ™‚

I made this background with the Masking Stencils-Stars (I used it and shifted it around a bit to use it again) and the Diagonal Stitched Square Stacklets. So fun! πŸ™‚

This sentiment is a trip. And if you haven’t used these Free Big Grumpy sentiments before, it is very easy to do. Check out the information for printing and stamping them over on the TE Blog and website.

I colored Big Grumpy on both with Copic Markers.Β  These two are some of my all time faves of my TE stash.

TE Quad Colors Continued!

Hello and welcome back to a fun week over at Taylored Expressions! I hope you have enjoyed the idea of mixing up your color choices and maybe even enjoyed playing along this week already? The TE Creative Team has really wow’d me (again!) with the Quad Colors projects! Here are all the colors below. Be sure to check out all the news over on the TE Blog and see more cards!

Today, I will start out with the Quad Color called Sahara.

I created a background with two Masking Stencils using this combo–and I LOVE how easy it was with the TE Blender Brushes….he turned out well with guessing my appropriate Copic markers. Who knew? The stripes are the absolute best paired with a rectangle– <3!

Of course, it’s no secret I love the Grumplings and this one is Big Grumpy Cat! He’s so ornery and actually this card is WAY too fitting for this time in our world, unfortunately. But introverts unite, nonetheless. πŸ™‚ I colored him with Copic Markers and it turned out (surprisingly… shhhh) well for this color combo.

Next up, I have the Quad Color Barcelona:

One of my go-to cardmaking techniques is always strips of paper all stacked together. The result is always delightful to me. So when I saw this combo, that was my first idea. I thought this card would be great for a graduate–especially a pre-school or elementary school one. πŸ™‚

For this card the coverplate I used is Alphabet Soup–definitely a favorite coverplate when it comes to making anything for school or kids. I just adore the font. I added some stitching and put it all on a card base. Such fun!

If you missed my post on Tuesday for the Quad Colors, please find that post by clicking HERE.

You can find all my supplies and links to the Taylored Expressions Shop below. Also, here’s a sweet little reminder below about shipping again this month. πŸ˜‰

Congrats! ’17

Happy Friday! Hope you’re off to start a wonderful weekend! If you are looking for my Paper Smooches DT June Hop post, please click —> HERE. Prizes to win! Such fun to see the new goodies! πŸ™‚

Today’s card is made with the May released Grad Cap Card Die fromΒ  Paper Smooches. I also used the New Beginnings 2 stamp set. It’s packed with great sentiments!

I ❀ that sentiment, “Bask in Your Awesomeness”!! Perfect! πŸ™‚ This die set makes this fun tassel, which I think can be used in a variety of ways, outside of tassel making!

These fun sunglasses are from the Pineapple 2 die set. Love. Them.

I thought this was a fun nod to how graduates put tape on their caps to say “Hi Mom” etc. Do they still do this? Ha! I don’t think I ever did because I feel like we received our attire late in the game? Hmmmm… You’d think I’d remember my graduations. Nope. Ha! I think I was exhausted πŸ™‚

Check out the Paper Smooches blog for more fun, and stay in the loop on the upcoming release and current challenge! I love the PS Challenges! Always have. πŸ™‚

Have a great weekend!

Yay!

Hey hey! Happy Friday! Happy Early Mother’s Day to everyone celebrating this weekend!

Today’s card is made with this fun new set from the Paper SmoochesΒ MAY release. For this card, I used the New Beginnings stamp set (that elephant ❀ !) and the New Beginnings Icons Dies!

I mean, goodness, he’s cute! πŸ™‚

For this card, I just masked off these rays/stripes and blended on some Distress Inks. I can’t recall for sure, but I’m guessing I used Carved Pumpkin and Spiced Marmalade? I colored this cutie elephant with Copic markers, and heat embossed this sentiment from the same stamp set. I adhered all the mortarboards and drew on tassels. I added some white spatters afterward to give it a celebratory feel–pow! I thought this one was fun to highlight your graduate!

Plus, I went to the University of Illinois for my undergrad degree, so I had to use the Orange and Blue. Go Illini! πŸ˜‰

Next up, I thought I’d share this sweet little card using the same stamp set.

I kept this one very simple with just some stamping, vellum, and stitching. I love these simple cards! πŸ™‚

Be sure you’re following the Paper Smooches blog, and please stop by here again! I’ll be back with more cards to share this month, and I”m hoping I get those posts written soon! πŸ™‚

Have a great weekend!

Yay! Graduate!

Graduation season rolls on with this stinkin’ cute skunk and smart cookie from Lawn Fawn! πŸ™‚

hawkins_jill_yay_wmPaired the Lawn Fawn Smart Cookie set & Stinkin’ Cute sets for a fun card! πŸ™‚ Oh, I also used A Birdie Told Me for the speech bubble and die. πŸ˜‰

I loosely watercolored the background with Distress Inks (Stormy Sky, Shaded Lilac, Seedless Preserves, and Mustard Seed). I masked, stamped, & colored the images with Copics. Then I fussy cut them, also using my college skills for X-Acto knife trimming so the cutie skunk could hold his diploma. LOL. Thousands well spent. πŸ˜‰ Finished it up with some Wink of Stella sparkle, splats, stitching, some patterned paper and Lawn Trimmings.

hawkins_jill_yay_00_wm

I stamped a speech bubble inside the card, with the sentiment, “You’re One Smart Cookie”, but forgot to take the photo! Duh. I generally neglect the insides (the shame!), so I totally blitzed on remembering to share it this one time! Darn.

The current Lawnscaping Challenge is Distress Maniacs!! Distress inks rock! Check out all the fun HERE!

I guess Lawn Fawn is my go-to set for Graduations this year! πŸ™‚ Yay! You can find my other recent card HERE. Super fun stuff!

Thanks for stopping by–have a great Wednesday!

Jill πŸ™‚ P.S. It should be noted I used some purple. LOL!

The Places You’ll Flamin-GO!

Still snickering about this fun little Lawn Fawn set, Flamingo Together! The light bulb went on when I realized this flamingo wanted to graduate! πŸ™‚

hawkins_jill_flamin-go_wmToooo fun! I paired the Flamingo Together set with the new Lawn Fawn Smart Cookie set, and bam,Β  a graduate! πŸ™‚

I colored the images with Copics, and then blended on some Distress Ink for the background, finishing it up with some Wink of Stella sparkle, and a few Pretty Pink Posh sequins. The die cut frames are all from My Favorite Things.

hawkins_jill_flamin-go_00_wmThe tricky part is always thinking backward on masking. It’s not hard, by any means, but when it’s late at night, well, things aren’t always so streamlined in the brain, are they? LOL πŸ™‚ Fortunately, I did have the forethought of stamping out a few of these at the same time. So, now I just need to color them!

Exciting that the current Lawnscaping Challenge is Sparkle It Up!! Perfecto for my sparkly graduate! Check out all the fun HERE!

Sidenote: As I was sparkling up my Flamingo’s hat and whatnot, my Wink of Stella pen had a surge of fluid roll out. It was close to ruining my card in the final touch. Ack! *sweats! I’m wondering if this common?

Lastly, thought I’d just share a picture of all the fun Lawn Fawn little ditties I recently finished and cut out, READY for cards! Whoot! πŸ™‚ Cuties!

hawkins_jill_lawnfawnThanks for stopping by–have a great week! πŸ™‚
