MFT Sketch #236

photoMFT Sketch Challenge #236 on My Favorite Things Challenge & Inspiration is rolling out today! Oh and we have the talented Kalyn Kepner with us this month!!

Here is this week’s sketch:MFT_WSC_236This is my card for the week: hawkins_jill_wishbig_wmA little shaker action! How much do I enjoy these new background stamps!!? πŸ™‚hawkins_jill_wishbig_00_wmI used the Wink of Stella to brush over the sentiment giving it a little something, but darn, that thing is hard to photograph, especially with the added acetate and shiny stars! Ha!! I think I’d just heat emboss it next time πŸ˜‰

Blueprints 26: Oh yes!

I enjoyed making a second card with this sketch. I made these a week+ apart, but geesh, are there similarities or what? πŸ˜‰

hawkins_jill_enjoy_wmThis Balloon Strings background makes my crafty heart go pitter-patter. What fun this can be! πŸ™‚

hawkins_jill_enjoy_00_wm

The amount of debate I had over whether both of these balloons should have a string or not? You can see which way I went πŸ™‚

Inspired by Photography…

PrintToday is another Inspirational on the MFT Blog…Certain to be a good read! This day is all about being inspired by Art.

I am an avid fan of black and white photography. Heck, photography in general I completely enjoy. This is one of my all time favorites: “Chicago” by Jerome Hawkins.

Chicago-OPJerome (Pat) Hawkins happens to be my father-in-law, but he wasn’t at the time I purchased this photograph ;). Just love this one so. It was the only piece of real art I owned back then. His photographs are all meticulously done with perfection. I do not have that much patience. Ever. πŸ™‚ Plus: Chicago.

Take a minute to check out Mr. Hawkins other photographs. πŸ™‚

Here’s a card I was inspired to make:

HAWKINS_JILL_youre the man_wmI enjoy using lots of fun color combos, but I am also a HUGE fan of the gray scale. I wanted to keep this card simple, like the amazing photograph. Plus, I think these spiffy ties are fitting for a city setting–fancy like. πŸ™‚

Happy Mom’s Day!

I thought I’d share a couple of cards I made for a friend to give on Mother’s Day. I need a few dozen more of this one! πŸ™‚ If only I didn’t need to sleep…hmmmm…

hawkins_jill_love you_n_00_wm hawkins_jill_love you_n_-wmAnd then I mixed it up a bit on the second… πŸ˜‰ This dark card stock is Nightshift. In person, it looks much more dark navy than these photos suggest. Love it! πŸ™‚

hawkins_jill_love you_w_wm hawkins_jill_love you_w_00_wmThey turned out pretty fun…and they are nice to leave around after the *holiday*. I hope they are enjoyed πŸ™‚

MFT Sketch #224 AND Shaker!

photoSketch Challenge #224 TODAY on My Favorite Things Challenge & Inspiration blog!! Sure to be rockin’ cards by my teammates! πŸ™‚

Here’s a peek at my card this week: Die-namics Stitched Jumbo Fishtail Banner STAX. Oh yea! πŸ™‚hawkins_jill_sketch224_00_wmI used the Die-namics Stitched Jumbo Fishtail Banner STAX repeatedly to get that one banner. It came together so well. LOVE that! Go check it and all the other fabulousness from the DT on the MFT Card Challenges blog today!

Here’s the sketch πŸ™‚

MFT_WSC_224Also this week, the MFT Stamps Blog is all about Shakers!!PrintHere’s one for today!hawkins_jill_sending happy_wmI recommend static treating all parts of your shaker card before you put the goodies inside. I did that here, but as you can see, some still sticks wacky. But hey, that’s the nature of the card. They are meant to shake, so a still shot is never quite as enjoyable as a good SHAKE!! Ha!! πŸ˜‰ The MFT Blueprints #24 has sequin die cuts, so that is what I used here. The possibilities are endless to make shaker cards. πŸ™‚
