Tropical Vibes with Concord & 9th!

Happy Friday! Today I’m sharing my last post as a Concord & 9th Guest Designer for July and their Feature Friday series–it went too fast! Be sure to check out all the projects on the Concord & 9th Blog HERE too! πŸ™‚

Today we are sharing projects made with the Tropical Vibes Bundle! This one has allllllll the Good Summer Vibes, that’s for sure!

I created the background for this card using the Tropical Vibes Turnabout stamp and then die cut out all the pieces from the Tropical Vibes dies.

This next card has the die cut again from the Tropical Vibes dies, but also features the Joyful Tile Bundle–specifically the  Joyful Dies. This is the “oh” turned upside down to create “yo”! I still laugh at this one because that just cracks me up! Yo, Let’s Celebrate! πŸ™‚

I used paper strips and die cut the word from it. Then I added the sentiment from the Joyful Tiles. Love it! πŸ™‚

This background below is definitely one of my favorites. Part of that is because this is not a set of colors I’d normally pull to work together, and they totally do!! So that happy surprise is fun in itself.

This sentiment is from the Tropical Vibes Turnabout. Just so happy with how it turned out overall. Simply delightful!

Lastly, I thought I”d share a card I made using the Tropical Vibes Turnabout with one my all time favorite Concord & 9th products–Kind Card Frame and the Kindhearted Stamp set. (I think these are retired now…?)

I thought the blues were fun and a little unexpected!

You can find the whole lot of new Concord & 9th products HERE. And if you’re a bundle person, get it all HERE.

Joyful! Concord & 9th Fun!

Happy Friday! Today I’m sharing my third post as a Concord & 9th Guest Designer for July and their Feature Friday series! Be sure to check out Karen & Carrie’s projects on the Concord & 9th Blog HERE too! πŸ™‚

All my cards today feature the new Joyful Tile Bundle. One of my favorite things is a great word die, and this more than fits the bill! πŸ™‚

Rainbow all the things! This one turned out fun! First I stamped the word “enjoy”, inking it with several colored inks and then I die cut it with the coordinating dies. I also cut the words out in fun foam and adhered them on the back of the stamped word. I stamped the graphic stamp twice, just shifting the angle to create sort of a Spirograph look. So fun! To finish it off, I added a little stitching and a few confetti sequins. I want to make more of these, of course! Ha! πŸ™‚

Next up, I made a fun holiday card–I love holiday cards with non-traditional colors! The word JOY is perfection!

I made the background with the new Joyful Tiles Turnabout Stencil pack. These stencils are pretty genius! It’s so fast to create a background with them–1, 2, 3….I use my MISTI to hold it in place and for the sharp corner.

Next up, I have another Holiday card, using a more traditional color palate. Again, I used the Joyful Tiles Turnabout Stencil pack, just trying to keep two rotations slightly lighter. When I was done with that, I used one of my first Concord & 9th sets, O Christmas Tree, to put snowflakes in the centers.

I used the sentiment stamp from the Tropical Vibes Turnabout and the word Joy again from Joyful Tile Bundle. I scored the card base for some added texture and stitched it all down. I’m loving the fact I have two holiday cards already made! It’s July! Whooooooot!!

My last card is a fun combo of the Joyful Tile Bundle and the Tropical Vibes Turnabout. I wasn’t sure what colors I wanted to use, but I just got started and ended up loving the way it came together! πŸ™‚

I stamped the word enjoy with two different colored inks, creating an ombre look in the end. I was amazed it turned out, not gonna lie. πŸ˜‰ I adhered it to the turnabout base using fun foam. I stamped the sentiment and trimmed it out, adding it with foam adhesive.

So, I have two extremes here: A summer tropical vibe and a holiday/Christmas vibe! πŸ™‚ It’s fun to use your goodies in so many different ways though, isn’t it?! πŸ™‚

You can find the whole lot of new Concord & 9th products HERE. And if you’re a bundle person, get it all HERE.

I hope you have been inspired to stretch your supplies to cover different occasions! Please be sure to check out the post on Concord & 9th’s Blog today to see both Carrie and Karen’s projects too! They have wow’d me all month!

Toucan Paradise | Concord & 9th Fun!

Happy Friday! Today I’m sharing my second post as a Concord & 9th Guest Designer for July and their Feature Friday series! Be sure to check out their projects on the Concord & 9th Blog HERE too! πŸ™‚

Both cards today feature the new Toucan Paradise Bundle. It is such a perfect set for my current vibe: Summer, Tropical, Hot. πŸ™‚

This toucan is so fun and I love that he can be stamped in pieces to change up the colors. I masked off a section and then stamped all the elements within that section with bright and cheerful colors.

I stamped the toucan and die cut him out with a branch, adhering him with foam tape. I added some reverse scored lines on the opposite side for added texture. I really enjoy how simple and crisp this one turned out in the end.

My second card is a little wild! πŸ™‚ It too features the Toucan Paradise Bundle, just keeping it simple with a background and sentiment.

I stamped the sentiment with VersamarkΒ  on vellum and used sparkly embossing powder. It looks awesome in when it catches the light. ❀ I stitched it all down on top of the centered stamped elements. I only wish I had stamped a few of these background all at the same time, because I love the look of these stamps all together. πŸ™‚

You can find the whole lot of new Concord & 9th products HERE. And if you’re a bundle person, get it all HERE.

I hope you have been inspired to try something BRIGHT and tropical! Please be sure to check out the post on Concord & 9th’s Blog today to see both Carrie and Karen’s projects too! SURE to be fun!

Concord & 9th

Today is an exciting day, as I’m joining Concord & 9th as a Guest Designer for July and their Feature Friday series—-I could NOT be more excited!! πŸ™‚ I have always enjoyed seeing this feature and I am delighted to participate this month! Many thanks to Concord & 9th for having me <3….I have been having a grand ol’ time, that’s for sure! Also designing this month are Carrie Rhoades and Karen Reategui! Be sure to check out their projects on the Concord & 9th Blog HERE too! πŸ™‚

On with the cards– That’s why we are all here, right?Β  πŸ™‚

This first card features the new Sew Pretty Dies, Joyful Tiles Turnabout Stencil Pack, and Tropical Vibes Dies. If you haven’t hand stitched a card, I highly recommend giving a go. It creates a lovely added element to each card–and these dies make it quick work. I stitch while watching TV–because I can rarely just sit. πŸ™‚

This “hello” sentiment is perfect for many occasions–I stitched it in dark (navy) blue.Β  I thought it would be fun to stencil the base first, before stitching. Have you used a Turnabout Stencil? It functions just like a Turnabout Stamp. I use my Misti for corner to hold the stencil in place and get the tight fit. πŸ™‚

I thought the flowers, scoring and stitching added the perfect finishing touch! πŸ™‚

Next up, I used the Sew Pretty Bundle and the new Tropical Vibes Turnabout stamp for the sentiment.

I thought it would be fun to stitch up the diamond a little different, and it turned out pretty cool! The trick for this specific look, is to have two colors going at the same time, so you can stitch them alternating, as you go. You can do one color at a time, it just creates a more layered look vs. integrated. Both are fun! πŸ™‚

Next up, I have a sweet stamped little number… This card features the Sew Pretty Stamp set.

I stamped the Hello with a dark blue and then magically found the matching Copic to fill in the outlined Hello. (Insider tidbit: This was completely a strike of luck to find the right color straightaway. Haaa! This will likely never occur again.) I simply adore the “from all of us” sentiment. Just delightful!

For the background, I masked off some stripes with Post it tape and blended on some ink. I stitched the panel on to complete the card.

…So I might have made a few cards because I could not stop! πŸ™‚

This next card features the Sew Pretty Bundle. There are so many possibilities with the stamp and die combos, especially because you can leave the diamond open or complete it, adding a little extra die piece to pierce the holes. This is likely my most straight forward card, if you will.Β  A lovely little number to give to the Bride & Groom!

It’s also delightful that in the bundle, you receive the floss and needles to stitch with. So when you receive your goodies, you are ready to rock! πŸ™‚ The floss colors are all fabulous and go together swimmingly.

I added the simple stitched line and score lines to finish it all off.

And last but not least, is the first card I made! This card again features the Sew Pretty Bundle.

I stamped the diamonds to overlap each other. I originally had three colors of ink to use, and grabbed the wrong one to lay down the last diamonds. But don’t tell anyone. *winkΒ  So if I made this one again, I’m not sure if I’d use two inks or three, as was originally intended…?

This green floss might be my favorite in the bundle. πŸ™‚ Its lovely. Perfect to say hello!
Well, I find my bucket of photos is now empty! πŸ™‚ As you can see, I really enjoyed exploring lots of possibilities with these new stamps and dies. And I still want to try a few other things. I’m hoping to get those done sometime in the next weeks–there should be some new seasons to binge watch soon!?Β  πŸ˜‰

You can find the whole lot of new Concord & 9th products HERE. And if you’re a bundle person, get it all HERE.

I hope you have been inspired to try your hand at making something fun and possibly explore trying something a little “different” with them too! Please be sure to check out the post on Concord & 9th’s Blog today to see ALLLLLLL the fun!

Happy stitching–thanks so much for stopping by!

Technique Tuesday! :)

Hello all! Phew! I’ve been MIA! πŸ™‚ It was weird to not create any cards for nearly a week?! We spent a lot of our Spring Break time visiting family. Loved it! Now, I’m getting back to it! Hooray!

Onward to the exciting news!! I have the super awesome pleasure of joining theΒ Technique Tuesday Creative Team!! What fun for me to work with products I ❀ ! Plus, Teri Anderson. Enough said. πŸ™‚ #terirocks

Annnnnd today is April release day for Technique Tuesday, so I thought I would share a project using one of the new little owl stamps: Proud Owl. There is a new owl each month! Love me some owls!! (The price point on these makes them irresistible! πŸ™‚ )

hawkins_jill_SO proud_wmI stamped the background with the Mom’s Day set. It says Favorite Son. Because I can say that. πŸ˜‰

hawkins_jill_SO proud_00_wmI loosely watercolored this guy with ink. I quite enjoy the way it turned out and I’m looking forward to trying this some more. I get all cookoo about trying to control watercolor, which if you ask me, is an oxymoron. I’m getting in the groove of just letting it rip! πŸ™‚ So much better!

Be sure to head over to the Technique Tuesday and check out ALL the new release there!! I’ll have more cards coming soon!

Thanks for stopping by & HUGE thanks to Teri and Technique Tuesday for having me along for the ride!!Β  πŸ™‚

Jill πŸ™‚

One more fun tidbit…my friend, Miriam Prantner, has a new Craftsy class going on now!! I wanted to share a link to her post HERE so you can check it out, and get a deal! Yay Miriam!! So awesome and sure to be a smashing success!! πŸ™‚

Technique Tuesday Happysauce :)

I think I would like Happysauce on everything! πŸ™‚ And it starts with another Technique Tuesday Thursday! Be sure to hop over to the TT blog for this week’s scoop!

First up, these cutie little Bird Friends! I just adore these little stamps and I thought I would just go ahead and stack up the cuteness! This was actually a panel I colored up for Day ONE of Kathy Racoosin’s most recent, The Daily Marker 30 Day Color Challenge. I finished it off with some blending and boom: Happysauce πŸ˜‰ hawkins_jill_whats up_WMAck! πŸ™‚ (Bird Friends and Sending Smiles. <3)

hawkins_jill_whats up_00_WMNext up, I did one of my all time favorite things…strips of paper and die cut inlay. I just think it creates such a fun POW with very simple supplies (and scraps! FTW!). πŸ™‚

hawkins_jill_wow_wmI know that I made it, but I still say Wow! πŸ™‚ SO fun! (Clipboard Die & Memo Pad Card die)hawkins_jill_wow_00_wm

Technique Tuesday time! :)

Yay! Thank you for joining me on another Technique Tuesday Thursday! You can hop over to the TT blog for this week’s scoop!

First up, The Struggle is (very) Real! I Can’t Even! πŸ™‚ The minute I saw this Say What?! stamp set month’s back, I wanted it crazy bad. The sentiments are so stinkin’ fun!!

hawkins_jill_the struggle_wm…and the Clipboard die!! I stamped the red back card with the Measure Up set, that I have had for years! It still sees a lot of ink here. πŸ™‚
hawkins_jill_the struggle_00_wmI’ve always had a thing for office supplies, so this combo of dies, stamps, and papers makes my organizational heart sing! πŸ™‚

I then busted out the Heart Strings die again. This die is sweet and versatile!

hawkins_jill_with love_wmI used the Memo Pad die too. I sorta kinda want to use this die on EVERY card! Is that wrong? πŸ˜‰ I inlaid and layer inlaid these die cuts in…Delightful!

hawkins_jill_with love_00_wmThis sentiment is from the Sending Smiles stamp set. You know I gush over Teri’s handwriting, mixed with this typeface, so naturally, I totally dig this set too! πŸ™‚

Well, that wraps another Technique Tuesday Thursday for me. Such fun products with endless possibilities!! Be sure to head over to the Technique Tuesday blog today. I’ll be back here next Thursday with more fun! πŸ™‚

In case you missed it, you can find my previous TT posts: HERE, HERE, and HERE. πŸ™‚
