Destination Chicago

Happy Thursday! Thought I’d pop in quick with the finished card I started for The Daily Marker 30 Day challenge! πŸ™‚

This is a great woodblock stamp of Chicago by Hero Arts. πŸ™‚ It is called Destination Chicago.

I used Distress Inks for these colors. I think I’m trying to combat the winter blues with rainbows lately πŸ˜‰ . I like the way it turned out in the end. And as I’ve said many a times, you just NEVER know with watercolors! πŸ™‚

Thanks for stopping by!

Make Your Own :)

I just think this card is a bit of a riot :). There is something so funny about this bear holding a Chicago hot dog and then… this sentiment?! Kismet, right? Bwwwwaaahaaahaa! πŸ™‚

This cutie and the sentiment is from Ellen Hutson’s All Inside stamp and die set. πŸ™‚

hawkins_jill_make your own_wmThe little hot dog is from Hero Arts Chicago My Kind of Town. Gah–TOO FUN! πŸ™‚

hawkins_jill_make your own_00_wmI added some score lines and stitching to the bottom of this card, though the photos here barely show it. In person, it adds just the right bit. I colored the bear and his dog with Copic markers and popped them up with foam tape. πŸ™‚

I thought I’d also enter this to the Ellen Hutson Pin-Sights Challenge. I think there are a couple of days left, so check it out! I may try another before time runs out? Big maybe on the time factor. Always, right? πŸ™‚

Thanks for stopping by!

Greeting from Chicago!

I have been super excited to get this Hero Arts stamp set since I first saw it. πŸ™‚ Then, Ellen Hutson had a sale, it was in stock, and bam! It landed in my mailbox. Funny how that works, right? πŸ™‚

hawkins_jill_chicago_wmThis little set is awesome and also delightful because: Wrigley! More to come with it for sure. Fun stuff by Kelly Purkey/Hero Arts!! πŸ™‚Β  I did make another card already, and then proceeded to smear ink on it. Ugh! #toolateatnight … So, I need to remake that one another day. πŸ˜‰

hawkins_jill_chicago_00_wmThought it would be fun to use the Chicago flag as inspiration. The hearts I used are from THIS die set, All Inside, by Julie Ebersole/Ellen Hutson. The stitched border die is the Wonky Stitched Rectangle STAX from My Favorite Things. Definitely wear this STAX out! πŸ™‚

That’s all from Chicagoland today! Looking forward to more fun from this set! πŸ™‚

You Mean the World…

Popping in to share my completed card from my Day 25 of Kathy Racoosin’s The Daily Marker, 30 Day Color Challenge project. Today is Day 28!! Wow.

I watercolored a Hero Arts Holiday Christmas Crystal Ornament and trimmed it out to include on a card. This is one of those holiday stamp sets I knew I could stretch for WAY more than Christmas! πŸ™‚ Love these geometric gems. πŸ™‚
hawkins_jill_you mean_wmI paired it up with an older Hero Arts sentiment I have. (I adhered my sphere in a different orientation than I intended to. Do you do things like this when YOU’re tired?)

hawkins_jill_you mean_00_wm

I embossed and watercolored with distress inks again. I just love the bright colors I have in Distress Inks and they work so fantastically together. I embossed the sentiment with the Ranger’s Black Sparkle embossing powder. This doesn’t show at all in the photos, but in person, it adds a fun sparkly goodness. πŸ™‚ The panel die and the ink blot stamps are from My Favorite Things πŸ™‚

I hope you have found some time to play in Kathy’s 30 day Challenge! I enjoy coloring, but I would most certainly not do it every night, for a month, without this little nudge. It’s fantastic practice!! πŸ™‚

Love Love Love

Dropping in to share my completed card from my Day 14 of Kathy Racoosin’s The Daily Marker, 30 Day Color Challenge project.

I did a quick watercolor of a Hero Arts Stitched Heart. In doing this, I just cross my fingers and hope it dries into something I like :). I thought this would brighten a mailbox!

hawkins_jill_love3_wmIt was Valentine’s Day when I made this, but I think it works any day.

hawkins_jill_love3_00_wmThis Stitched Heart is an older Hero Arts Woodblock stamp. These are the only stamps I used to own! πŸ™‚ I still have all my Hero Arts woodblocks. Keepers for sure. The sentiment here is from the newer Hero Arts Holiday Set, Christmas Crystals! That set is awesome! πŸ™‚

Also, I used my favorite Wonky Stitched STAX dies from My Favorite Things. πŸ™‚

thanks

Happy Wednesday! I love this stamping technique, and I’m not sure I’ve used it recently? I first stamp in white, and then I stamp over that with dye ink. Every time, I sort of ooh and ahh how fun the results are, both at first, and when it dries. You can also stamp the color dye ink before the white is dry, and that’ll give another look! πŸ™‚

This card is using stamps from both Neat & Tangled and Altenew. <3. I just wish I had stamped the ‘Thanks’ in gray. I had it out, and grabbed the wrong pad. 😦 Whomp whomp. Could have been worse, right? It could have been purple! Ack! πŸ™‚

hawkins_jill_thanks_wmSo. Fun. πŸ™‚

Have you seen the latest release from Neat & Tangled? Oh. My. Word. Such good stuff. Especially my friend Miriam’s designs. πŸ˜‰ Dang, check this coolness out HERE and HERE. I die. πŸ˜‰ And the Lumberjack Love stamp set is adorable!

This is the set I used from Altenew: Halftone Thanks. I have more cards coming soon using this cool set!

The Wonky Stitched Rectangles are from My Favorite Things. πŸ˜‰

Thanks for stopping in!

So so close…

Today I’m sharing a card set that was due for publication in Paper Crafts & Scrapbooking magazine’s Card Creations, Volume 13. I worked really hard on these several months back, and I was pretty darn excited to have that happen. But…well, you know the story. Whaaa whaa…. 😦 Susan was so patient with clueless me too- THAT was fun and joyful in itself πŸ™‚

Anywho–let that not taint the fact that I’m so glad my work paid off and I adore these stamp sets!! Squeeeeee! πŸ™‚

hawkins_jill_all fourhawkins_jill_hi there_JPGhawkins_jill_hi again_hawkins_jill_hi friend_hawkins_jill_hi buddy_…Love me some Paper Smooches and Lawn Fawn! And the people who make them! πŸ™‚

I had to remake these panels several dozens many many times over to get the stamping just right, straight and non-smudgey. ha! I’m thinking that coveted MISTI tool would probably make this a breeze, but these were made “old school”. πŸ™‚

Part of the assignment was to make a container for the cards, so I painted up the box/tag to go along with them.

I’m including this for the Paper Smooches SPARKS Challenge this week–Anything Goes! I’ve been missing participating in these πŸ™‚
