MFT Color Challenge #33

Color Challenge #33 is on the My Favorite Things Challenge & Inspiration blog!

MFT_ColorChallenge_PaintBook_33I’m really enjoyed working with this combo because it evokes such coziness. Hence my cards for this Challenge:

hawkins_jill_let's cuddle_wmThis card makes me oh so happy! The new Chunky Chevron Cover up is AWESOME. Just so cool. The possibilities! πŸ™‚

For this card, I cut the cover up out of Sweet Tooth and then inlaid all the pieces. After, I overlaid the hollow Steel Gray cover up in the opposite direction. I shrieked a bit! Die cutting and stamping are definitely my happy. πŸ™‚

hawkins_jill_let's cuddle_00_wmI made another card with this combo, this time using the chevron pieces only πŸ™‚

hawkins_jill_the snuggle_wmAgain, The Snuggle is Real. I keep joking I may need an intervention to stop using these two products. Of course, I’m kidding. Or am I? Haaaaa! πŸ™‚

hawkins_jill_the snuggle_00_wmThis color combo just says: Winter. πŸ™‚

MFT_ColorChallenge_PaintBook_32Here’s my card for the week:

hawkins_jill_let it snow_00_wm(This stinker was so oddly challenging to photograph.)

I think these little dies to the Winter Wonderland set are so fun on their own. You get double duty from your die sets this way! πŸ™‚hawkins_jill_let it snow_wmI made a quick tag (& added a little sparkle!) with some of my remaining die cuts. Have I mentioned my love of the Sketched Chevron Background? I think I’ve used it on just about everything since it arrived in my house. LOL πŸ™‚

hawkins_jill_season's greetings_wmDon’t forget there is the Handmade Holiday TAG fun to join in over on the MFT Blog.

MFT_ColorChallenge_PaintBook_28It’s the 2nd Thursday of the month and off we go! Color Challenge #28 is on the My Favorite Things Challenge & Inspiration blog! Be sure to hop there as the other girls CERTAINLY rocked this! πŸ™‚

My go at it: I am so digging Tropical Teal right now! πŸ™‚

hawkins_jill_M_wmI know, I used the Four Way Chevron Cover-up again…but I had to! It’s awesome!! πŸ™‚

hawkins_jill_M_00_wmIn my continuing effort to make quicker cards now-and-again (ha!), I made this one below with remnants and pieces made previously for other cards. That sure makes it quicker!! LOL πŸ˜‰hawkins_jill_good things_wmThen, I accidentally starting stitching in the wrong place. Soooo, that placement was decided. Nuts. I’m not sure I’m loving it overall, but there are some takeaways for sure πŸ˜‰hawkins_jill_good things_00_wm

MFT Color Challenge #27 & Summer School!!

MFT_ColorChallenge_PaintBook_27It’s the 2nd Thursday of the month and Boom! Color Challenge #27 on the My Favorite Things Challenge & Inspiration blog. PLUS–MFT Summer School!! πŸ™‚

My card for this Color Challenge:

hawkins_jill_gold star_wmThe new Fringe die has lots of possibilities. Here I die cut the Fringe with the Stitched Basic Edges die, to add a little interest. πŸ™‚

hawkins_jill_gold star_00_wm

(The Delicata Gold ink holds the embossing powder, but I decided to add another layer with Versamark as well. πŸ˜‰ )

PrintBonus! Today is Day Four of MFT Summer School: Session Three. Today is all about Color Saturation. Hop over to the MFT Blog to read about it all. Susan R. Opel will school us all real good! πŸ˜‰

Color Saturation – The intensity of color. The more white or gray that’s added, the less saturated the color becomes. Cards tend to work best when the saturation of the colors are on a similar scale.

Here is my card: I squealed with delight when I finished. You do that too sometimes right? πŸ˜‰

hawkins_jill_think happy_wmI definitely lean toward the bright/darker colors rather than the muted ones. I am often in awe of people who use the lighter colors successfully. I love these saturated colors together! πŸ™‚

hawkins_jill_think happy_00_wmI die cut the new Four Way Chevron Cover-up several times and pieced together. Then I die cut that panel with the Stripes cover-up and pieced that together. Crazy clapping ensued. You just never know what things are going to look like and I do not enjoy wasting time. LOL πŸ™‚ This delights me ever so very much!

MFT Color Challenge #26!

MFT_ColorChallenge_PaintBook_26It’s the 4th Thursday of the month and BAM! Color Challenge #26 on the My Favorite Things Challenge & Inspiration blog.

Here’s my card for this Color Challenge:

hawkins_jill_love you_wmI had some technical difficulties (*cough cough*) with these colors. Do note that the color above is Steel Grey–that is the darker grey. LOL. One of my favorites! πŸ™‚ I combined them together for some striped die cutting and hit it up with the Abstract Background! Another fave! πŸ™‚

hawkins_jill_love you_00_wmI had to make a second card, because the first thing I thought of when I saw these colors was WATERMELON! We go through 1-3 of those a week in our house.

Here it is:

hawkins_jill_enjoy1_wmSummer! I made the watermelon seeds with the negative of the Blueprints 26 little balloon bow. πŸ˜‰hawkins_jill_enjoy1_00_wm(Please excuse the bazarro lines in the photo above. Something wacky there?)

MFT Color Challenge #25!

MFT_ColorChallenge_PaintBook_25It’s the 2nd Thursday of the month and in walks Color Challenge #25 on the My Favorite Things Challenge & Inspiration blog.

Here’s my card for the Challenge:

hawkins_jill_you make_D_wmThis Color Challenge was definitely a challenge, in a couple ways! πŸ™‚ In the end, it came together, with the Kraft holding it all together. Literally πŸ™‚

Never to give up easy, I figured I’d give it another go. In 20 minutes or less. Start to finish, including photos. Ya. Figured that would never happen. I can’t even decide what to use in 20 minutes or less sometimes! LOL πŸ™‚ But I went with these colorful strips, and bam! Voila! Here it is:

hawkins_jill_bestest wishes_wmThe glitter was not dry when I photographed this. Too funny. I quite enjoy that it is a shaped banner card though. Maybe I should adopt this 20 minute rule always? Not likely. πŸ™‚ But I quite like this Birthday Wishes & Balloons set. Fabulous! “Bestest Wishes” just makes me happy πŸ™‚
