Xyron sticks to MFT

PrintIt’s the beginning of some special fun posts on the My Favorite Things Blog this week. My Favorite Things meets Xyron!

I have looooong had a Xyron Sticker Maker. It was probably one of the first crafty tools I owned, so I’ve been a fan of Xyron’s stickiness for many years πŸ˜‰

Here is the project I made for this collaboration:hawkins_jill_five_wmThe most important thing when making an inlaid card is adhesive–and LOTS of it. For this I used the Xyron Mega Runner. It worked famously for laying down bulk adhesive and I was pret-ty excited! I go through a lot of adhesive, but this Mega Runner holds so much, I have yet to come close to needing a refill…and I’ve been using this since the lovely folks at Xyron sent it to me! Loving it for sure!! πŸ™‚

hawkins_jill_five_under_wmThe ‘5’ comes off the card, and using the Xyron Magnet Tape, it becomes a magnet! How awesome is that!? I just love that the card serves double duty and the recipient can use the 5 on their fridge, or wherever πŸ™‚ But I also wanted the card to have its own life and not be naked, so I just inlaid another 5, slightly dressed up too :).

hawkins_jill_five_magnetback_wmThe Xyron Magnet Tape is just like a roll of basic tape. One side is sticky and you just pull it out, tear it off on the teeth, and stick! Voila! Easy peasy! πŸ™‚

hawkins_jill_five_magnet_wmHere are a couple quick photos I snapped while making my card. The first one shows how I laid out the pieces. Right after this photo, I completely covered the white typing paper with the Mega Runner adhesive. That is the key to inlaid die cutting. Do not cut corners on this because inevitably, that is the part that will pop off. Ask me how I know πŸ˜‰hawkins_jill_five_progressThis next photo shows you how the pieces are all well stuck and then die cut again into a nice tidy panel πŸ™‚

hawkins_jill_five_progress_wmIt’s so nice to not use half a roll of your runner on one card! This Mega Runner is a powerhouse. And look at those Blueprint 26 Balloons….ahhhh πŸ™‚

MFT Color Challenge #22!

MFT_ColorChallenge_PaintBook_22Today starts Color Challenge #22 on the My Favorite Things Challenge & Inspiration blog. Head on over there and see what our wickedly talented team busted out this week!

MFTC&I Blog–sure to be FABulous!

Here’s my card for the week:

hawkins_jill_hello_cc_00_wmI double die cut the Jumbo Dot Cover Up after inlaying the first set of circles. When you do this, you can’t exactly tell where you are cutting because the die is solid, but it worked out. πŸ™‚hawkins_jill_hello_cc_wmPolka dots… love ’em! πŸ™‚

I made a second card with some left over dots. It’s been a week of “hmmm, that’s not quite what I was thinking it would look like…”. Too funny. It’s still fun to send a shaker, right?

hawkins_jill_happy cc_00_wmI popped up the black front panel in hopes that Sour Apple would show through the window a bit, but…not so much. Ha!! πŸ˜‰hawkins_jill_happy cc_wmIt’s already growing on me more though. πŸ™‚

Here’s this week’s sketch:

MFT_WSC_230 Poof! Here’s my take:hawkins_jill_yr pretty darn awesome_00_wmThis is a project that looked one way in my head, and came out another. Meh, that’s ok πŸ™‚hawkins_jill_yr pretty darn awesome_wmI made a second card based on this MFT Sketch #230. This is an even looser take, but the sketch still comes through. πŸ˜‰

hawkins_jill_celebrate_wmFor this card, I challenged myself to get it made and be in bed before midnight. I succeeded :). (‘Fastest Turtle’ for a reason: I’m slow. But let’s call me, ummm…”deliberate”, OK? πŸ˜‰ ) It helps that I save 98% of my scraps. I used some from THIS card. Hooray for being frugal! Ha! πŸ™‚hawkins_jill_celebrate_00_wmI thank one of my (many) enablers, Erin, for the sweet hook up on this Balloon STAX set. She’s a stinker like that. πŸ™‚
