MFT Sketch #237 AND Summer School!

photoMFT Sketch Challenge #237 on My Favorite Things Challenge & Inspiration is starting today. In July here, we have Kalyn Kepner with us! Whoot!

Here is this week’s sketch:
MFT_WSC_237:This is my card for the week:

hawkins_jill_make a wish_wmI cannot get enough Abstraction! 🙂 Now it is in stamp and stencil form! LOVE.

hawkins_jill_make a wish_00_wmI used watercolors to paint the whole panel. It probably would have gone faster if I had done a couple triangles at once with the same color. But no. Did one. At. A. Time. It isn’t perfect, but I don’t think watercolor should be? I like things crisp, so this was good to do something different.

Bonus: Today is the 3rd day of MFT Summer School!

PrintBe sure to head over to the MFT Blog to read the lesson and link up to the other cards the MFT design team made. 🙂

Today is all about: Primary! Primary colors: Red, Yellow and Blue.

Print I took a little tweek on the red. 🙂

MFT Summer School: Complementary

PrintDay TWO of fun on the MFT Blog! MFT Summer School: Session Two! Sharpen your pencils! 🙂

Today’s lesson:PrintComplementary sometimes just happens, but it is a quick way to pick your colors if you get stuck. They are opposite colors on the color wheel…such as yellow/purple, orange/blue, red/green… You’ll definitely want to hop over to the MFT Blog to see what Susan wrote up for today’s lesson. That’s where the real schooling is 😉

There is also a great download for your school notebook 😉

Here’s my card:

hawkins_jill_you're the coolest_wmThis was a very happy accident. I wasn’t making this card! I was going to edge a piece of card stock with this Notebook Edge die:

As I did, I got this negative piece and thought it was TOO fun to just leave in the scrap pile…so these little strips happened instead. Hence this card.

hawkins_jill_you're the coolest__00_wmThis reminds me so much of that pom-pom fringe that was used to often in the 70’s/80’s? I remember pink curtains somewhere in my world that had that pom-pom fringe. Awesome. 🙂 Stretching those supplies! Hooray! 🙂

Hope you can check out all the surely fun projects today too 🙂 The My Favorite Things blog is where to hop to!

MFT Summer School: Gallon/Quart/Pint

PrintToday starts another fun week on the MFT Blog! MFT Summer School: Session TWO! Oh yes! 🙂

Today’s lesson:

PrintThe ol’ Gallon/Quart/Pint trick…You use a lot of one color, a little of the next, and even less of the next. Such fun! I could do these little lessons all day. I think I always say that, but it’s true! 🙂

Anywho, on with my card:

hawkins_jill_miss you_wmMy card here sort of takes the gallon to the extreme and the others to the brink, but you get the picture. I have been trying to stamp more, and kept this one simple. I tend to die cut, so I like to be sure I mix it up here and there 🙂 Watercolor: The untamed medium.

You’ll definitely want to hop over to the MFT Blog to see everything that Susan wrote up today. That’s where the real schooling comes in 😉

hawkins_jill_miss you_00_wmHope you can check out all the surely fun projects. I can’t wait!! 🙂 The My Favorite Things blog is sure to have lots of good stuff this week.
