Freaking Amazing. MFT Sketch 284

Here’s my take on MFT Sketch Challenge #284. This challenge come from the My Favorite Things Challenge & Inspiration Blog!photoI love to mix up colors, so I used Spearmint, Persimmon, Nightshift and Cement Gray. ahhhh πŸ™‚

hawkins_jill_amazing_00_wmI die cut the chevron stripes and used the one in between as another strip. If you don’t snip them apart, you actually get three different chevron strips vs. two. Hopefully I can keep them together! I laid those up, then die cut them into the peek-a-boo circle. Inlaid that, die cut some lines, embossed on vellum, and stitched on the sentiment. LOVE the “You are Freaking Amazing” stamp. I always reach for it. πŸ™‚

I took this photo both early this morning, and just this evening. Neither time grabbed the colors fantastically, but so it goes. A never-ending issue. πŸ™‚hawkins_jill_amazing_wmMy card is made with supplies at My Favorite Things. Die-namics: Blueprints 13, Chevron Stripes, LJD Peek-a-boo Circle Windows, Basic Stitched Lines. Stamps: Amazing. Card stock: Spearmint, Persimmon, Cement Gray, Smooth White and Nightshift.

Sending Hugs

Yesterday, I shared cards using non-holiday products for making Holiday cards. Today, I’m sharing a card I made using holiday products for non-holiday cards. πŸ™‚ Did you follow that? I barely did! πŸ˜‰ (Click HERE for yesterday’s post.)

I made this to send some healing hugs a little while back.

hawkins_jill_sendinghugs_wmI used the Winter Wonderland stamp set & dies. When I saw these little envelopes and mailbox, well, that was that. πŸ™‚ It’s one of those stamp sets that I’m glad I have the matching dies for.hawkins_jill_sendinghugs_00_wm Fun with holiday supplies! Stretching those too!! πŸ™‚ And of course, the Sketched Chevron Background stamp…which I think I have used on at least 90% of my cards since it arrived. πŸ˜‰

There is a little time left to participate in Sketch Challenge #260 and over a week left for joining Color Challenge #36 on the My Favorite Things Challenge & Inspiration blog! Tomorrow is the last MFT Sketch for 2015!! Wait, what?! Wow.

MFT Color Challenge #27 & Summer School!!

MFT_ColorChallenge_PaintBook_27It’s the 2nd Thursday of the month and Boom! Color Challenge #27 on the My Favorite Things Challenge & Inspiration blog. PLUS–MFT Summer School!! πŸ™‚

My card for this Color Challenge:

hawkins_jill_gold star_wmThe new Fringe die has lots of possibilities. Here I die cut the Fringe with the Stitched Basic Edges die, to add a little interest. πŸ™‚

(The Delicata Gold ink holds the embossing powder, but I decided to add another layer with Versamark as well. πŸ˜‰ )

PrintBonus! Today is Day Four of MFT Summer School: Session Three. Today is all about Color Saturation. Hop over to the MFT Blog to read about it all. Susan R. Opel will school us all real good! πŸ˜‰

Color Saturation – The intensity of color. The more white or gray that’s added, the less saturated the color becomes. Cards tend to work best when the saturation of the colors are on a similar scale.

Here is my card: I squealed with delight when I finished. You do that too sometimes right? πŸ˜‰

hawkins_jill_think happy_wmI definitely lean toward the bright/darker colors rather than the muted ones. I am often in awe of people who use the lighter colors successfully. I love these saturated colors together! πŸ™‚

hawkins_jill_think happy_00_wmI die cut the new Four Way Chevron Cover-up several times and pieced together. Then I die cut that panel with the Stripes cover-up and pieced that together. Crazy clapping ensued. You just never know what things are going to look like and I do not enjoy wasting time. LOL πŸ™‚ This delights me ever so very much!

MFT_WSC_241This is my card for the week:hawkins_jill_lets be friends_wmThe Encouraging Words stamps set is fabulous.

Next up: MFT Summer School! Session Three, Day Three πŸ™‚ Hop over to the MFT Blog for the REAL lesson and all the link ups to fabulous cards by the MFT Team! πŸ™‚

PrintToday’s Lesson: Hard vs. soft – For every hard line or edge you place on a card, the design is balanced by some softness, whether it be from a texture (like a ribbon) or a shape (like a circle); too much hard or soft might not work.

Here’s my take on this lesson:

hawkins_jill_for you_wmIt is definitely a literal take on this lesson, being that I used soft felt and all πŸ˜‰ But my thinking was the angles added an edge.hawkins_jill_for you_00_wmIf you missed my cards from earlier lessons this week, you can click on these links: Monday & Tuesday. MFT Sketch #240

photoMFT Sketch Challenge #240 on My Favorite Things Challenge & Inspiration begins rockin’ today!

Here is this week’s sketch:MFT_WSC_240This is my card for the week: One of my favorite Sketch cards to date. LOVE these dies.

hawkins_jill_you got this_wmI used a Fuse Green card base and stamped the new Wonky Chevron background on the inside. Adds a little fun for the recipient πŸ™‚ “You Got This” = Awesomesauce.

hawkins_jill_you got this_00_wmI really enjoyed this week’s sketch, so I made another card. Then I had ideas for at least three more, but, it was almost midnight. πŸ˜‰ Some other day…

hawkins_jill_congrats_wmThose little flags use the new August released Fringe die! Oh goodness, that’s a fun one too! πŸ™‚ The Primitive White base gives a nice warmth to the card.

hawkins_jill_congrats_00_wmThis one is being mailed to a friend…and it is WAY overdue. 😦
