Merry and Bright

As mentioned previously, I give myself the pass on making our family Christmas cards. As much as I enjoy it, I sort of lose my mind somewhere along the production line. πŸ™‚

Of course, time is even tighter in December, but I kept these very simple and managed them in one sitting. I mailed them out before Christmas, to my teammates! Whoot! πŸ™‚ It’s the little victories!

hawkins_jill_merry&bright_06_wmI was also in a race with the mailman, so I snapped just a few quick photos. πŸ™‚Β  hawkins_jill_merry&bright_wmWhile these cards are very similar, they are all slightly different. πŸ™‚

hawkins_jill_merry&bright_00_wmFun with non-holiday supplies! Always fun to stretch what you have in different ways. πŸ™‚

Don’t forget, there is a little time left to participate in Sketch Challenge #260 and over a week left for joining Color Challenge #36 on the My Favorite Things Challenge & Inspiration blog!

My Favorite Things: Sketch #252

photoMFT Sketch Challenge #252 begins rockin’ on the My Favorite Things Challenge & InspirationΒ Blog!

This week’s sketch:

MFT_WSC_252Here is my take this week:

hawkins_jill_you are cool_wmYum! I am a big fan of all Laina Lamb’s designs each month. They are always delicious aren’t they!? I may need to make a card with all of them on it! Hmm and mmmm! πŸ™‚hawkins_jill_you are cool_00_wmI pieced together different strips of card stock and then die cut it all with the Snow Drifts Cover-up. Another one I can’t stop using! πŸ™‚

I squeezed in a second card this week because: Halloween!!!

hawkins_jill_trick or treat_00_wm I went a little STAR crazy on this one. If I had more time to redo, I’d have omitted the stars from the Trick or Treat die cut. But, alas, had to catch the daylight to photograph. πŸ˜‰hawkins_jill_trick or treat_wmHappy Halloween! Trick or Treat’ers, Enjoy!! πŸ™‚

MFT Sketch #247 + treats!

photoMFT Sketch Challenge #247 begins its reign on the My Favorite Things Challenge & Inspiration Blog today!

This week’s sketch:MFT_WSC_247Here is my take this week: I rotated and flipped the banner a bit πŸ˜‰

hawkins_jill_just because_wmThis New York die is awesome. πŸ™‚ I’m pining for a Chicago one now. LOL πŸ™‚ I also dig this sketch!

hawkins_jill_just because_00_wmI die cut the skyline and then used the positive and negative cuts as a stencil to spray with Copic markers. Something different. Fun fun! πŸ™‚

I didn’t get my second sketch card made yet this week (September is a bit cookoo around here!), but I thought I’d share these cute little treats.

hawkins_jill_treats_wmQuick and simple. I thought I’d attach all the clothespins differently, to illustrate the options.

hawkins_jill_batty treats_wmI think this bat one is my fave! πŸ™‚ But these ghosts below are my favorite images in this set. So cute!

hawkins_jill_boo treats_wmIt would be really easy to take these to the next level and add some twine and coloring. I also think some sparkle would be fun! But I knew the sparkle wouldn’t photograph well. πŸ˜‰ I wanted to keep mine quick, simple and oh so fun! πŸ™‚

hawkins_jill_meow treats_wmI do love fall and all it brings! Treats! πŸ™‚

MFT Summer School: Asymmetry

MFT_SummerSchool3_MFTTVMy Favorite Things: Summer School Session Three rolls on! Day 2.
Print

Symmetry balanced proportions and Asymmetry The placement of non-identical forms to either side of a balancing point in a way that the two sides seem to be of the same visual weight but aren’t.

You want to pop over to the MFT Blog to be schooled. These lessons are well put together by Susan. πŸ™‚

Here’s my take on the lesson: Asymmetry.

hawkins_jill_lean on me_wmI’m all about symmetry in architecture. But there’s something about card making that makes it fun to rebel. πŸ™‚

hawkins_jill_lean on me_00Hope you can check out all the fun on the My Favorite Things blog this week. The design teams have surely made plenty of cards to see and link to! A plethora of Inspiration!

MFT Color Challenge #26!

MFT_ColorChallenge_PaintBook_26It’s the 4th Thursday of the month and BAM! Color Challenge #26 on the My Favorite Things Challenge & Inspiration blog.

Here’s my card for this Color Challenge:

hawkins_jill_love you_wmI had some technical difficulties (*cough cough*) with these colors. Do note that the color above is Steel Grey–that is the darker grey. LOL. One of my favorites! πŸ™‚ I combined them together for some striped die cutting and hit it up with the Abstract Background! Another fave! πŸ™‚

hawkins_jill_love you_00_wmI had to make a second card, because the first thing I thought of when I saw these colors was WATERMELON! We go through 1-3 of those a week in our house.

Here it is:

hawkins_jill_enjoy1_wmSummer! I made the watermelon seeds with the negative of the Blueprints 26 little balloon bow. πŸ˜‰hawkins_jill_enjoy1_00_wm(Please excuse the bazarro lines in the photo above. Something wacky there?)

Here is this week’s sketch:MFT_WSC_238This is my card for the week:

hawkins_jill_you're my person_wmI have been long awaiting to use this stamp set. It’s crazy versatile! πŸ™‚ Big fan of that. I have also been trying to challenge myself. This week was One Layer cards. Fun–and wow, I save on card stock! Haaaaa!Β  πŸ™‚ Note to self: Stamp hybrid inks first, sentiment on top of everything. Doh. :/

MFT Sketch #237 AND Summer School!

photoMFT Sketch Challenge #237 on My Favorite Things Challenge & Inspiration is starting today. In July here, we have Kalyn Kepner with us! Whoot!

Here is this week’s sketch:
MFT_WSC_237:This is my card for the week:

hawkins_jill_make a wish_wmI cannot get enough Abstraction! πŸ™‚ Now it is in stamp and stencil form! LOVE.

hawkins_jill_make a wish_00_wmI used watercolors to paint the whole panel. It probably would have gone faster if I had done a couple triangles at once with the same color. But no. Did one. At. A. Time. It isn’t perfect, but I don’t think watercolor should be? I like things crisp, so this was good to do something different.

Bonus: Today is the 3rd day of MFT Summer School!

PrintBe sure to head over to the MFT Blog to read the lesson and link up to the other cards the MFT design team made. πŸ™‚

Today is all about: Primary! Primary colors: Red, Yellow and Blue.

Print I took a little tweek on the red. πŸ™‚

MFT Sketch #236

photoMFT Sketch Challenge #236 on My Favorite Things Challenge & Inspiration is rolling out today! Oh and we have the talented Kalyn Kepner with us this month!!

Here is this week’s sketch:MFT_WSC_236This is my card for the week: hawkins_jill_wishbig_wmA little shaker action! How much do I enjoy these new background stamps!!? πŸ™‚hawkins_jill_wishbig_00_wmI used the Wink of Stella to brush over the sentiment giving it a little something, but darn, that thing is hard to photograph, especially with the added acetate and shiny stars! Ha!! I think I’d just heat emboss it next time πŸ˜‰

Blueprints 26: Oh yes!

I enjoyed making a second card with this sketch. I made these a week+ apart, but geesh, are there similarities or what? πŸ˜‰

hawkins_jill_enjoy_wmThis Balloon Strings background makes my crafty heart go pitter-patter. What fun this can be! πŸ™‚

hawkins_jill_enjoy_00_wm

The amount of debate I had over whether both of these balloons should have a string or not? You can see which way I went πŸ™‚
