Celebrating 10!

My Favorite Things is celebrating 10 years!! How exciting! Happy Birthday to MFT, Kim, and the whole MFT team!! πŸ™‚

I’m sneaking this in for the little bonus challenge this month. Details can be found HERE! For my use of 10, I used TEN FLOWERS!Β  πŸ™‚

hawkins_jill_darn great_wmThis color combo is not totally my thing, but I figured I’d share it anyway. πŸ™‚

Here’s another card I made last year with the Buildable Blooms set. This one might be my favorite. πŸ™‚

hawkins_jill_close to my heart_wm

My entry card is made with the following supplies at My Favorite Things. Build-able Blooms, Stripes Cover Up (retired), Razzle Berry. πŸ™‚

Thanks for dropping in and again, Happy Birthday, MFT!! Keep up the fun!! πŸ™‚

Have a good week!

Hello Color!

Here’s my take on MFT Sketch Challenge #286. My Favorite Things Challenge & Inspiration Blog!photoI made a horizontal card which, feels a little foreign to me nowadays. πŸ™‚

hawkins_jill_hello2_wmI used this MFT diagonal coverup, so the sketch took an angle by default. πŸ˜‰

hawkins_jill_hello2_00_wmI die cut everything and then did some stitching. Finally, I added glossy accents to all the letters. I was on the fence about doing that, but it always adds a little pop of fun, I think. If only I didn’t get hand cramps from squeezing my Glossy Accents bottle. Haaaa! πŸ™‚

Bonus! I used the colors from the Color Throwdown Challenge this week–#398! When I saw that awesome combo this week, I was hoping to get in on it πŸ™‚ Success! So summery and spunky! Check out their Color Challenge this (and every) week HERE.

My card is made with supplies at My Favorite Things. Die-namics: Stitched Cover Up Companion Diagonal, and the Highrise Lower Case Alphabet. Card stock: Smooth White, Black Licorice, Limelight, Lemon Drop, Razzle berry, and Cherry Crisp.

Peeps!

This week is MFT Sketch Challenge #272! (My Favorite Things Challenge & Inspiration blog.)photoI have a weakness for iconic Peeps! Not so much eating them, but their sweetness! πŸ˜‰

hawkins_jill_my favorite peep_wmPeep! πŸ™‚

Totally random note, as I was making this, I just grabbed ink pads, not sure how many peeps it would take to complete the circle. And I just noticed they are ROYGBIV! Totally not intentional, and I love that Rainbow just happens. Haaaa! πŸ™‚

hawkins_jill_my favorite _00_wmMy card is made with supplies at My Favorite Things: Die-namics Blueprints 24, Stitched Mini Scalloped Circle STAX. Stamps: Candy Jar Companions. Card stock: Ripe Raspberry and Smooth White.

MFT Sketch #271

It’s time to interpret MFT Sketch Challenge #271! (My Favorite Things Challenge & Inspiration blog.)photoDefinitely in a Spring kind of mood with this color combo lately…Green! πŸ™‚

hawkins_jill_life is_wmI do enjoy this MFT stamp set. I used the Large Rectangle from Blueprints 24 and just double die cut it. πŸ™‚

Inspired by SRO! :)

Rockin’ along with MFT Sketch Challenge #270! (My Favorite Things Challenge & Inspiration blog.)photoThis may be my most literal take on any sketch ever. LOL. πŸ™‚

For this card, I was inspired by the one and only, my friend, Susan R. Opel. Susan literally writes the blog on inspiration, so I find it fitting. β™₯ SRO has an eye for fashion (and other fun) inspired card creations. Check out these examples of Susan’s awesome inspirations: HERE, HERE, and HERE. I mean, Yo! That’s fun. πŸ™‚

Way back in October (?), I was flipping through TV channels late one night, and saw Julianna Margulies on Stephen Colbert. Checkout her spectacular Chevron dress!! πŸ™‚ It stuck in my head, and I told Susan I would just have to make something inspired by it. πŸ˜‰

Happy Valentine; MFT Sketch #264

photoSqueaking one in for the MFT Sketch Challenge this week: Sketch #264. (My Favorite Things Challenge & Inspiration blog.)
Here’s my take: Abstracting and label making love. ❀

hawkins_jill_happy valentine_00_wmAnd the Stitched Heart STAX! So <3. I put everything on a wonky angle, because apparently that’s what I do! πŸ˜‰hawkins_jill_happy valentine_wmI used the Abstract Stencil, spraying pink & gray Copics with the Distress Marker Sprayer. It’s always on my desk, but I’m trying to clean and purge. So I moved it to a “better location” and it took me 10 minutes to find it. I think I function better in the organized chaos? Ha! πŸ™‚

My card is made with the following supplies at My Favorite Things: Die-namics: Stitched Heart STAX, Wonky Stitched Rectangle STAX. Stamps: Label Maker Love. Stencil: Abstract. Card stock and Inks (Tickled Pink and Gravel Gray)

My Beaker Bubbles; MFT Sketch #263

photoAnother week, another MFT Sketch Challenge. Sketch #263 on the My Favorite Things Challenge & Inspiration blog. Yana’s guest projects over there this month are fun!! πŸ™‚

Here’s my take: Love. This. Chemistry. ❀
hawkins_jill_my beaker1_wm
I stamped gray on gray here, but the ink really soaked into the card stock overnight. Wacky.

Also, I believe this is a flask, not a beaker. But I color owls blue. So, you know. All is fair in creative endeavors, right? πŸ˜‰

hawkins_jill_my beaker_00_wmLaina’s newly released sets for January make me so very happy! The minute I saw it, I knew there was Undeniable Chemistry! πŸ™‚

My card is made with the following supplies at My Favorite Things: Die-namics: LLD Chemistry Set, Basic Edges, File Folder Edges, Wonky Stitched Rectangle STAX (LOVE!), Stitched Fishtail Banners. Stamps: Undeniable Chemistry. Card stock and Inks.

My Favorite Things: Sketch #262

photoI thought it would be fun to play along with the MFT Sketch Challenge #262 on the My Favorite Things Challenge & Inspiration blog. Fun stuff to see there!
Here’s my take: I wanted a Manly Valentine, if there is such a thing? πŸ™‚

hawkins_jill_heart you_wmI was hoping to use some die cuts I already had for this Chunky Chevron Cover Up. I found them from making THESE cards!Β  #winning πŸ˜‰

hawkins_jill_heart you_1wm This second photo is redundant, but I couldn’t get a detail photo to turn out. So here’s the closest thing. Ha! πŸ™‚

My card is made with the following supplies at My Favorite Things: Die-namics: LJD All My Love, Thank you, Chunky Chevron Cover Up, Stripes Cover Up. Card stocks:Β  Factory Green, Steel Grey, Cherry Crisp, Smooth White, Silver Sparkle, Vellum.

Season’s Givings Blog Hop!

SeasonsGivingsimageHappy 2016!! πŸ™‚ You should have arrived here along this fun hop from the fabulously sweet and talented, Julie Dinn’s blog. You can also start back at the beginning via Lawn Fawn here!

Thank you for joining the Seasons Givings Blog Hop! What good company!

We are all hopping today as a way of saying Thank You for joining us on our blogging adventures. Speaking for myself, it takes time to keep up with my blog, and I appreciate when someone enjoys it and even leaves a comment saying so. It’s nice to know it’s not an echo chamber, you know?! πŸ™‚ So I’m sharing a few cards I’ve made and of course, having a giveaway!

This first card is a fun combo of some My Favorite Things Hexagon STAX goodness and some Paper Smooches BEE die fun. Bee You! πŸ™‚hawkins_jill_BeeYou_wmAck! Love this cute little Bee! πŸ˜‰

hawkins_jill_BeeYou_00_wm These next two cards, feature the Lawn Fawn stamp set, “Turn Me On”. Ack. So cute. The fun patterned papers and Say Cheese (Polaroid) die are also Lawn Fawn. πŸ™‚ Eeek! Cute!

hawkins_jill_you turn_wm

As I was stamping the light bulb for my card, my paper got turned upside down, and well, I had a light bulb moment! Haaaaa! Pun in a pun. Geesh. Anyway, I thought the light bulb looked a lot like a holiday ornament upside down, so hence my second card. πŸ™‚hawkins_jill_merry and bright_wmThe Stitched tag die cuts are My Favorite Things. A staple set! πŸ™‚

Here is the goody goods I am sharing to one person who comments on this post by Tuesday, January 8th. To qualify, I thought it would be fun if you could answer all or any one of the following: (My giveaway is only valid for shipping within the USA. πŸ™‚ )

  1. Your favorite brand of ink and why it is your favorite. Dye ink? Pigment?
  2. A favorite project of yours you’ve created in 2015. (Try to include a link so I can oooo and ahhhh too!) πŸ™‚
  3. Do you do more stamping, die cutting, 50/50, or something else entirely?

hawkins_giveaway_(P.S. I’m in the middle of a HUGE overhaul, so I will be adding more goodies!! As much as the envelope will hold!!)

Thank you again for hopping here today and for all your kindness along the way! If you’re here for the first time, and want to see a great summation of My 2015, check out my MFT post from yesterday HERE. It’s long, but has lots of love and pretty pictures. πŸ™‚

MFT Gratitude and β™₯. So. Much.

Wow. I just keep thinking, Wow. πŸ™‚

A little over a year ago, one of my favorite people, Susan R. Opel sent me an email. I, like many of you, have had the good fortune of receiving happy emails from SRO several times before (for publication acceptances!). This particular email pretty much blew my mind. Susan asked me to join her and five other superbly talented people on an amazing new My Favorite Things journey. And boy, was it EVER just that and SO much more. My gratitude to Susan cannot be summed into words. Truthfully. The idea that she believed in me to be a part of this amazing team is something I pinch myself about. This adventure was part of Susan’s new job at MFT and we were going to join her. I did not, nor ever will, take that responsibility and (complete) enjoyability lightly! πŸ™‚ I thank you again Susan, for your confidence, your encouragement, your delightful words on every week’s posts (!!), your emoji (πŸ’©), your humor, and for your friendship. Gah. The love.

Today, the My Favorite Things Challenge and Inspiration Team bids adieu. What an awesome, awesome ride it has been. I keep trying to put my gratitude to MFT, awe, love, and experience into a few concise sentences. Well, that’s unrealistic! πŸ™‚ Let’s face it: I’m wordy and mushy. My Favorite Things makes the most fantasticly designed products EVERY month and they were beyond generous in sharing them with me this past year!! ❀  The entire MFT Design Team, as a whole, is a seriously talented (& fun!) group! My MFTC&I teammates: They are some of the best crafty friends a girl could have. They are all amazingly talented, kind, and oh so very funny. We’ve had many laughs and they will forever be some of my favorite cardmakers. More importantly, friends. πŸ™‚

Our journey, as this new MFT Challenge Team began at the beginning of the year, doing weekly Sketch Challenges and two Color Challenges a month. That’s approximately 76 cards we’d each make this past year. I was nervous I wouldn’t be able to do that! Besides previously self-imposed publication submission deadlines, I wasn’t sure I could make 76 worthy cards and on a deadline each week?!! ! I think in the end, I made over 230 MFT cards! πŸ™‚ And I was worried?! I look back and laugh. I just enjoyed it, and kept right on making them! Haaaa!

As promised yesterday, here is my second take on the final My Favorite Things Challenge and Inspiration Team’s Sketch for 2015, MFT Sketch Challenge #261. This sentiment was really fitting, as this is how I feel about our Team. Getting to know each of them better over the course of the year, craft related and non-craft related, has truly been an awesome treat and privilege. Here’s my last “official” MFT Sketch take:

hawkins_jill_knowing you_wmOn my card yesterday, I used mostly die cuts. Die cutting is certainly my jam. However, I am always a stamper at heart, and sometimes cannot get enough of just stamping! πŸ™‚hawkins_jill_knowing you_00_wmI love these little puppies, with their scarves. Too funny! πŸ™‚

I looked back at all the MFT Challenge and Inspiration cards I made this past year. Here’s some of my favorite MFT cards: Starts with Hello and ends with Goodbye. Fitting. ❀

What an awesome year of fantastic products. πŸ™‚

I also thought it would be fun to share SOME of my favorite, My Favorite Things products. I am awful with favorites. I have dozens, but I am going to try and pick just a couple handfuls of MUST MFT HAVES, In my mind, of course. πŸ™‚ I think in terms of basics, that are wickedly versatile, to make my crafty funds go farther. Then I like to try and stretch those basics farther and farther. Just a few of my all time favorites:

Ok, I couldn’t pick just a few, and I had to stop because I wanted to pick everything! πŸ™‚ All the card stocks, all the grays, Laina’s designs, Birdie Brown, STAX, Colors etc. See, that was a bad idea to even try! LOL! πŸ™‚

My final puppy dog sketch card is made with the following supplies at My Favorite Things:

Unending thanks of my utmost gratitude to everyone at MFT. I thank you for this freaking amazing opportunity, the super awesome products, your support, your humor and your assistance along the way. Thank you Kim, Jody, Julie, Laina, Erica, and SRO <3. You are all kind, generous, and crazy talented yourselves. Goodness. xo Print

I also have enormous amounts of gratitude to my skilled and TALENTED teammates, my friends: Veronica Zalis, Vera Yates, Alice Wertz, Erin Lee Schreiner, Miriam Prantner, and Susan R. Opel! Thanks girls! β™₯β™₯

My craftiness will continue right here on my blog, on Instagram and Facebook. Follow me on any! πŸ™‚ (Sidebar here to follow my blog, Fastest Turtle, via email)
