NEW Mini Slim Essentials from Taylored Expressions!

Taylored Expressions has a New Release today and it is of all things MINI SLIM!! It’s a fun new Mini Slim Essentials Release and it’s full of add-ons to really add some details to our Mini Slim cards!

First up, there is some new little stamps in town that I added onto this Mini Slim Tri-Fold Card. This is the new Tutti FruttiΒ set and it is SO cute! I used the previously released Mini Slim Trifold Template + Dies – Circle with the Mini Slim Trifold card base from TE.

I mean really. These fruits just make me happy! And I added some googley eyes for extra fun. πŸ™‚

To create the front of this tri-fold, I used the previously released Masking Stencil – Mini Slim Rectangle along with the new Mini Slim Stencil – Wonky Dots. I used Cilantro, Granny Smith, Lemon Meringue and Pineapple to blend.

I die cut the circles using both and then added the two sizes to create a uniform look from the front. I think it turned out kinda fun! πŸ™‚

This is the second layer, if you will. I used the new Mini Slim Thin Frame Cutting Plate to create this fun little border stripe. I cannot wait to use these more and create lots of stripey goodness! The thinness of the frame is going to be great to use for many things.

For this layer, I used the Go with the Flow stencil and the same color combo to blend. The little hearts are from the Little Bits – Hearts die.

The inner most layer, I used the Mini Slim Stencil – Wonky Dots again, this time in Cupcake. And a Cilantro frame from the Mini Slim Thin Frame Cutting Plate. These trifold cards are always fun to make in the end and I imagine getting one would be thrice as nice! πŸ™‚

Next up, I have a pink little number with a new friend from the Tickled Pink Stamp & Stencil Combo. The tropically delightful stencil is the new Mini Slim Stencil – Tropical Leaves. For this one I blended on Cookie Monster, Sprinkles, Granny Smith, Cilantro and Pineapple. I used the Mini Slim Trifold Template + Dies – Hexagon to create the window, but this time wonky.

I also used the Masking Stencils – Mini Slim Scalloped Rectangle again. I guess I like that clean edging look. Who knew? πŸ™‚

The sentiment is from the same set and you open it up to find a rainbowtasticness surprise! This one is a Top Fold Mini Slim. Which, unless you have a lot of 12 x 12 heavy weight cardstock around, I’d definitely recommend ordering a pack from TE to use. I do not have 12 x 12, so I am so glad they started offering these. πŸ™‚Β  AND the tri-fold pre-made cards: πŸ’›!!

At first I was just going to rainbow the Flamingo, and then I thought–might as well go all in with the background too! So I lined up the stencil to match the front and did just that! πŸ™‚

This one is definitely different, but I like it! I would either add a note to the back or just sign my name with a quick note somewhere inside here. πŸ™‚

Also, you may have noticed the new Mini Slim Scalloped Envelope Liner! AHHHHHHH– love this die! The TE Creative team did such fun things with it that you definitely want to check it out. For some reason, I went very basic using some Toffee to line the envelope. But stencils and colors are all so fun to add a little more spunk!

Here’s the details from TE:

.Right now through Sunday, July 4th (or while supplies last), You can get the Tickled Pink Card Making Bundle for 15% off! The bundle includes the Tickled Pink Stamp & Stencil Combo set, Tickled Pink die, and Mini Slim Tropical Leaves stencil.Β The discounted bundle price is only available through Sunday, July 4th.

Happy Valentine; MFT Sketch #264

photoSqueaking one in for the MFT Sketch Challenge this week: Sketch #264. (My Favorite Things Challenge & Inspiration blog.)
Here’s my take: Abstracting and label making love. ❀

hawkins_jill_happy valentine_00_wmAnd the Stitched Heart STAX! So <3. I put everything on a wonky angle, because apparently that’s what I do! πŸ˜‰hawkins_jill_happy valentine_wmI used the Abstract Stencil, spraying pink & gray Copics with the Distress Marker Sprayer. It’s always on my desk, but I’m trying to clean and purge. So I moved it to a “better location” and it took me 10 minutes to find it. I think I function better in the organized chaos? Ha! πŸ™‚

My card is made with the following supplies at My Favorite Things: Die-namics: Stitched Heart STAX, Wonky Stitched Rectangle STAX. Stamps: Label Maker Love. Stencil: Abstract. Card stock and Inks (Tickled Pink and Gravel Gray)

My Beaker Bubbles; MFT Sketch #263

photoAnother week, another MFT Sketch Challenge. Sketch #263 on the My Favorite Things Challenge & Inspiration blog. Yana’s guest projects over there this month are fun!! πŸ™‚

Here’s my take: Love. This. Chemistry. ❀
hawkins_jill_my beaker1_wm
I stamped gray on gray here, but the ink really soaked into the card stock overnight. Wacky.

Also, I believe this is a flask, not a beaker. But I color owls blue. So, you know. All is fair in creative endeavors, right? πŸ˜‰

hawkins_jill_my beaker_00_wmLaina’s newly released sets for January make me so very happy! The minute I saw it, I knew there was Undeniable Chemistry! πŸ™‚

My card is made with the following supplies at My Favorite Things: Die-namics: LLD Chemistry Set, Basic Edges, File Folder Edges, Wonky Stitched Rectangle STAX (LOVE!), Stitched Fishtail Banners. Stamps: Undeniable Chemistry. Card stock and Inks.

Merry and Bright

As mentioned previously, I give myself the pass on making our family Christmas cards. As much as I enjoy it, I sort of lose my mind somewhere along the production line. πŸ™‚

Of course, time is even tighter in December, but I kept these very simple and managed them in one sitting. I mailed them out before Christmas, to my teammates! Whoot! πŸ™‚ It’s the little victories!

hawkins_jill_merry&bright_06_wmI was also in a race with the mailman, so I snapped just a few quick photos. πŸ™‚Β  hawkins_jill_merry&bright_wmWhile these cards are very similar, they are all slightly different. πŸ™‚

hawkins_jill_merry&bright_00_wmFun with non-holiday supplies! Always fun to stretch what you have in different ways. πŸ™‚

Don’t forget, there is a little time left to participate in Sketch Challenge #260 and over a week left for joining Color Challenge #36 on the My Favorite Things Challenge & Inspiration blog!

This week’s sketch:

MFT_WSC_252Here is my take this week:

hawkins_jill_you are cool_wmYum! I am a big fan of all Laina Lamb’s designs each month. They are always delicious aren’t they!? I may need to make a card with all of them on it! Hmm and mmmm! πŸ™‚hawkins_jill_you are cool_00_wmI pieced together different strips of card stock and then die cut it all with the Snow Drifts Cover-up. Another one I can’t stop using! πŸ™‚

I squeezed in a second card this week because: Halloween!!!

hawkins_jill_trick or treat_00_wm I went a little STAR crazy on this one. If I had more time to redo, I’d have omitted the stars from the Trick or Treat die cut. But, alas, had to catch the daylight to photograph. πŸ˜‰hawkins_jill_trick or treat_wmHappy Halloween! Trick or Treat’ers, Enjoy!! πŸ™‚

Inspiration…

Inspiration is EVERYWHERE. Literally.

Cath Edvalson has a new adventure: Hip and Hooray!! Well, I’ve always found Cath’s finds inspiring, so I wanted to participate in her inaugural Tuesday’s Take…details found HERE.

Tuesday's Take LargeYou can participate in these challenges as well. There are most certainly not limited to papercrafters, just your imagination. πŸ™‚

This was the image she selected to inspire…and boy does it ever! Colors, pencils, rainbow…ahhhh! πŸ™‚ I just had to make something.

Rainbow Pencils | brightboldbeautiful.comI don’t do many pastel-ish colors, but I just am enamored with how this turned out…so maybe I should!? Hooray for Sherbet colors! πŸ™‚ hawkins_jill_hi two_wmEnjoyable.

MFT Summer School: Asymmetry

MFT_SummerSchool3_MFTTVMy Favorite Things: Summer School Session Three rolls on! Day 2.

Symmetry balanced proportions and Asymmetry The placement of non-identical forms to either side of a balancing point in a way that the two sides seem to be of the same visual weight but aren’t.

You want to pop over to the MFT Blog to be schooled. These lessons are well put together by Susan. πŸ™‚

Here’s my take on the lesson: Asymmetry.

hawkins_jill_lean on me_wmI’m all about symmetry in architecture. But there’s something about card making that makes it fun to rebel. πŸ™‚

hawkins_jill_lean on me_00Hope you can check out all the fun on the My Favorite Things blog this week. The design teams have surely made plenty of cards to see and link to! A plethora of Inspiration!
