Wheatfield Dreams from Taylored Expressions

Today, there is a NEW Kit available over at  Taylored Expressions! The Wheatfield Dreams kit is designed by my friend Lori Craig and it is as delightful as her previous two kits: Field Notes and Field Notes 2. This one is a nod to Lori’s home state of Kansas and it is a delight!

I started out getting super crafty with all the watercolor colors. I first embossed the new wheat stamp and then added a bunch of watercolors and blended around. I used the new Honey and Mulled Wine watercolor.

This kit has lovely sentiments in it too. I stamped this one on a small piece of torn vellum and heat embossed it before stitching it on to finish off the card.

I finished it up by die cutting with the Petite Scallop Rectangle stacklet, naturally. 🙂

Next up, I thought it would be a fun twist to do a rainbow color wave with the Burlap Background in the kit and some partial die cutting.

I used the Stitched Rectangle Stacklets and layered this up to match. Now, I’m thinking I might have liked to layer it up with foam tape. Next time maybe. 🙂

I added some score lines to the card base and kept the rest fairly simple. I finished off both of these with some twine and some stitching, which I find fitting for this kit.

All these products are available now over at Taylored Expressions. Hooray!

Here’s the TE scoop:

DieCember from Simon Says Stamp

This week there is fun to die over at Simon Says Stamp for the new DieCember release!! So. Many. Dies. ❤

For this card, I used the new CZ Design Friends die. Pretty sure this one will be used often around here! 🙂 I love that it not only cuts the words Friends but it also cuts the backer for the word.

I decided to create a watercolor background using Distress Inks. This is just fun to do and a good break for your brain to just mush colors around. I also then added some wonky stitching and scoring to finish it off. Simple and so fun to make! 🙂

A fun little smile to send to a friend. ❤

Be sure to check out all the new goodies over at Simon Says Stamp for the DieCember release HERE! And just another quick link to the new die I used: CZ Design Friends die.

Thanks for stopping by! Happy crafting!

SSS STAMPtember 2020!

I am joining the fun over at Simon Says Stamp for the 2020 party of STAMPtember!! 🙂

I am using the new CZ Design Deco Squares Cling Background stamp! I decided it would be super fun to use the Karin Markers on it and watercolor allllll the rainbow goodness! 🙂 I also used the previously released SSS You’re Doing Awesome die.

It’s far from perfect, but with watercolor, I think you have to let that go early on. I even used a lavender and a deep violet, which is basically against the grain, in my world. haaa! 🙂

You can pop over to the Simon Says Stamp Blog HERE to learn all the things about the celebration this month. Be sure to use the code in the image above for your order from Simon Says Stamp and get your gift! 🙂

Here are the Simon Says Stamp products I used:

Thanks to Simon Says Stamp for having me along to join in the 2020 STAMPtember Fun!! Be sure to check it all out! 🙂

STAMPtember with Tim Holtz!

Today, I’m sharing a card with Tim Holtz’s Simon Says Stamp  STAMPtember set! You can find this  set by Tim Holtz HERE.

I was with friends this past weekend and a bunch of us created a card with this set to share. A big shout out to my friend Latisha who took this photograph for me. You can tell I didn’t take it because it looks so lovely! 🙂

I added some watercolor craziness and stamped this dude on there. Perfect for Halloween! 🎃

There is nothing about this photo that looks like it came from me, right?! Ha! The stamp set was my friend Nichol’s, that she shared with us. It’s not my usual style. There is no stitching because I was away from home. AND it’s not my photography. But, as I tell myself all the time, it’s good to fly out of your comfort zone now and again or else you get stuck in it forever.

Hopefully you can find all the images of the cards my crafty friends made with this set too–over at Simon Says Stamp. Because, let me just tell you, they have MAD skills!! ❤

You can find allllllll things STAMPtember HERE! And Simon Says Stamp HERE!

Tim Holtz’s stamp set is HERE. Mr. Holtz is sure to have done amazing things with this set of his to show you!

Thanks to my crafty friends for the laughs this past weekend. And thanks to Simon Says Stamp for for a great STAMPtember!

Thanks for stopping by–

STAMPtember with Honey Bee Stamps!

Fun news! Honey Bee Stamps has a beautiful collaboration with Simon Says Stamp for STAMPtember!! You can find this lovely set called Fall Beauty HERE.

The main feature stamp can hold the card on it’s own, so it doesn’t take much to make it shine. I think there are going to be some awesome examples of this lovely colored!

I kept things simple, because I wanted to make a card set.

I fussy cut out the edge of the stamp after white heat embossing it. I love when detailed stamps are kept simple–the stamp does all the work!

Fall Colors: Perfect!

These sweet sentiments make it easy to complete the simple cards!

Lastly, because I love Fall, I had to make a fall card to use this sentiment. For this I squished a bunch of Distress Inks to create the mish mash of color.

I white heat embossed the one leaf repeatedly and added some splats and stitching to polish it all off.

Autumn changing is beautiful! My FAVORITE! 🙂

Again, here is the full set, Fall Beauty, so you can see all the lovely!

Some fun with Avery Elle!

Hello! Popping in today to share a couple cards I made using some fun new Avery Elle products!

This first one features the  Peek-A-Boo Car with the coordinating die. When I saw this car, I just knew it had to drive over to my house! I mean–eeep!! My son is going to love this car and put everyone in it! ha!!

This cutie driver and passenger is from the AE set Peek-A-Boo Pets and coordinating dies. I mean, that cow and chicken! ha! Too cute!!

For this card, I masked off a piece of Bristol paper and blended on some Distress Oxide and Distress Inks. I think splattered on some water and black paint to give it a little texture. I colored the car and critters with Copic Markers on X-press It Blending Card. So fun!!

(A quick note that X-press It Blending Card is 50% off through tonight, June 9 11:59 PST! Use code blending50 to take advantage! Such a great deal. I’m trying not to buy them out myself! Click HERE for the big pack or for the smaller pack HERE. 🙂 If you’ve never tried this blending card, I cannot recommend it more. I use only two cardstocks to color with Copics, and this is one. It blends like butta! ❤ )

Next up, I switched to watercolor. Watercolor always seems like my go-to for underwater things…Logical, right? 😉 This card uses the new Avery Elle set CelebRAYtion! Our son is super in Manta Rays right now, and I knew he’d love this fun set!

I used Distress Inks for the watercolored background on this one after white heat embossing the sentiment and images. I kept it fairly simple from there though. 🙂

Looking forward to giving these fun cards and making more! I also can’t wait to get my hands on a few more things Avery Elle recently released….and let’s be honest, things that were released a couple months back too. Trouble! 🙂

Thanks for stopping by! Enjoy your Sunday!

Take care– Jill 🙂

Taylored Expressions Release Week: Day 3

Welcome to Day Three of Taylored Expressions April Sneak Peek Week! If you missed my other two posts earlier this week,  I’ll link you up down below. 🙂

Today, I am sharing two cards –the first is showcasing the forthcoming World Map Background and Hand Lettered Baby. These baby sentiments are just the sweetest in the set.

For this card, I white heat embossed the map on watercolor paper and then added watercolor using Distress Inks. It was slightly tedious to create, but sometimes I also find that oddly therapeutic. ❤

I die cut the vellum, added some score lines and then white heat embossed the sentiment on top. I thought it turned out great! I was thinking it wouldn’t. ha!  🙂

Next up, I had fun creating this simple card set using the new Grid Background along with the previously released Buffalo Plaid background.

The Buffalo Plaid almost looks gingham like, doesn’t it? And the Hello is from the Hand Lettered Baby set! I just masked it off and used just the *Hello*. It’s so fun to rethink your supplies! 🙂

I wanted to try a bunch of different color combos, so I did just that!

These combos are different choices for me, and I ❤ !

The wanted a background border, but didn’t want to add more bulk so I embossed the Petite Rectangle Scallop die. Yeah for more of stretching supplies in different directions!

I’m looking forward to popping some Hellos in the mail! ❤

You can find all my supplies and links to the Taylored Expressions Shop below.

Welcome to the World card:

Summer School!

Happy Summer! My friend Jen suggested we get our Summer School on and participate in the MFT Summer School series. I thought it was a great idea and I was game, as I always love a challenge! 🙂You can Join in the fun HERE. I think there is still several days left to participate. You don’t have to do them all, by any means.

I dug into my MFT archives of well used stamps and dies and pulled out some for these projects. I had fun making them all and enjoyed the challenges. On with the cards, yes?!

For this card, I used one of my favorite Birdie Brown stamps off all time from the Polynesian Paradise set. I also used the Stripes Cover Up and the Four Way Chevron Cover up (embossed). I inlaid the strips to create subtle texture for the white space. White space rules! 🙂

Primary Colors–Red, Yellow and Blue…

For this card, I used the London Mouse set and the Amazing set for the sentiment. Added some Kuretake watercolors for the background and fussy cut the mice. out. I thought this turned out fun!

I love repetition, but even more, I enjoy simplicity. It’s always hard to know if something is too simple or just enough. Especially after you’ve been looking at too long. LOL! My rule of thumb: Walk away! If you’re debating, it’s usually best to walk away. 🙂

The black and white of these pandas is perfection for this. The biggest debate was what color to make the sign! 😉 This set is called Happy Pandas and the dies are the old school version (they are solid and not cut out) which was funny to go back and figure out again. 😉

For Complementary Colors, I chose to go with Green and “Red”, aka, Pink. 🙂

This dino is from the set You’re Rawr-some! Love that sentiment! 🙂 I watercolored the dino with my Kuretake watercolors (a bit too solidly for my taste). Still not sure I like this look, but it’s good to try something different once in awhile, right?

For this one, I went with these cutie Koalas colored with Copic Markers! Back to my comfort zone. 😉

This set is called Cuddly Koalas. I also used the Chunky Herringbone stencil, Stitched Rectangle Frame and Grassy Field die. Cute cute!

To finish these, I added some stitching to each. My Panda card had some Pretty Pink Posh Sparkling Clear confetti bits added.

Big thanks to my friend Jen for suggesting we do this (Jen’s are sure to be showstoppers!!) and thanks to you for stopping by!

Take care– Jill 🙂
