Taylored Expressions: Last Kit of 2022!

Taylored Expressions is releasing the last kit of 2022 today! How crazy is this? How is it December? How is 2022 coming to a close? I don’t know about you, but I think after the two years prior, maybe I was just holding my breath all year, in anticipation of something? But all is well and here we are celebrating another kickin’ kit! 🙂

If you are a fan of the mix tape era gone by, this is absolutely for you. Back in the day, I made a BOATLOAD of mix tapes and I would trade them with my friends. I don’t have a tape deck (😂 tape deck!) anymore, so most of them have traveled to places unknown, but let’s have fun with the paper version, shall we?

This kit is called Best Mix Ever Cardmaking Kit and it is just that–I had so much fun making these!

First up, I thought this tape screamed shaker card, so I had to do that first. 🙂 I used some colors of my 80’s self and those are Lollipop, Plum Punch, and Tropical Punch. I also used Oreo cardstock to white heat emboss on.

I used the Mix Tape die collection to create the tape and all the shaker bits in all the colors first. I have more pieces now to make more mixes, which I always love to have ready to rock.

I thought it screamed Black & White so I stamped this Mix Master Background stamp with the Versa Clair ink and used the reverse with the Stitched Frame Stacklets 3. I added a piece of vellum to the center of the circle to diffuse the background a bit for my shaker tape. I used the sentiment from Best Mix Ever stamp set stamped and embossed with the Lollipop Embossing Power (which was part of the Black Friday fun–but hold tight because it may be available again soon….shhhhhh!). And the tape “label” is created with the Mini Strips – Mix Tape stamp. Love this retro 80’s feel!

(I used lots of shaker bits, so check my supply list and the TE Foam Strips in black--perfect!!)

Next up, I really wanted to create a rainbow card, so I did that with a retro twist, and kept it pretty clean beyond that…except of course for the paint splatters all over –Paint Splatters are 80’s to me too. I remember I had clothes with “paint splatters” on them in THESE colors. Full circle moment 😂.

I went with Blueberry for tape and the Best Mix Ever stamp set sentiment and made a Mini Strip to add with the Best Mix Ever stamp set on Lollipop.I finished this one off with a scored cardbase that I then die cut the Diagonal Stitched Stacklets into, added some stitching and the little Bits & Pieces – Black Rhinestones that can be purchased separately from the kit.

I watched the movie Say Anything, while I made these, which seemed extremely fitting, but may have also distracted me too much. 😁 But I watching it on streaming vs. VHS, so it wasn’t entirely decade accurate. 🙂

OH and don’t forget to snag an extra pack (or two!) of envelope seals. How many seals is too many? Can there be too many? 🤔 nahhhhh

Calling all who love paper!

This fancy paper has a shiny shimmer to the pink bits, which is hard to capture in this photo. This paper is so lovely, I’m truly proud I used it vs. hoarding it. haaaa! 🙂

This cutie Koala is a stamp from Neat & Tangled.

Taylored Expressions: New Release!

Taylored Expressions has another kind of my favorites of favorites New Release today and it has so many fun things that you’re sure to consider staples and use time and again!!

These Hello and Thanks stamps have been a go-to of mine since they landed here and now THEY HAVE COORDINATING DIES! Whoooooot! 🙂 Check your stash because you might already have them. They are called Big Hello and Big Thanks. I used the Big Thanks for my cards here today:

I stamped the Big Thanks ombre style and die cut them out with the Big Thanks Coordinating Dies.

OH and one of the best parts, there are new Mini Simple Strips that coordinate with these dies perfectly! They are called Mini Strips – Thanks Add-ons. (There are also Mini Strips – Hello Add-ons.) I white heat embossed them on Poblano Pepper and on Oreo Cardstock.

I stamped the background stamps Branches & Blooms Background and Just Vine Background twice and cut those panels in half before stitching them on each embossed card base. I love how these turned out!

I stamped more panel and more Thanks so I can make a few more cards. Tis the season of many a thank you notes! ❤

Next up, I used the new Framed Script – Thanks and added on a cutie patootie little Monster Squad monster. I also used the new Diagonal Stitch Mini Slim Stacklets to give a little something to this panel. I LOVE the Diagonal Stitch Stacklets dies. Such a simple little detail it adds so subtly.

Of course, I felt he needed extra googley eyes. 🙂 I used the Mini Slim Stencil – Candy Cane Stripes stencil to create this background with Dijon. I stacked a few of the Scripted Thanks cut out of Pineapple cardstock and stitched those on before adding some Clear Drip Drops.
