thanks

Happy Wednesday! I love this stamping technique, and I’m not sure I’ve used it recently? I first stamp in white, and then I stamp over that with dye ink. Every time, I sort of ooh and ahh how fun the results are, both at first, and when it dries. You can also stamp the color dye ink before the white is dry, and that’ll give another look! πŸ™‚

This card is using stamps from both Neat & Tangled and Altenew. <3. I just wish I had stamped the ‘Thanks’ in gray. I had it out, and grabbed the wrong pad. 😦 Whomp whomp. Could have been worse, right? It could have been purple! Ack! πŸ™‚

hawkins_jill_thanks_wmSo. Fun. πŸ™‚

Have you seen the latest release from Neat & Tangled? Oh. My. Word. Such good stuff. Especially my friend Miriam’s designs. πŸ˜‰ Dang, check this coolness out HERE and HERE. I die. πŸ˜‰ And the Lumberjack Love stamp set is adorable!

This is the set I used from Altenew: Halftone Thanks. I have more cards coming soon using this cool set!

Enjoy! Concord & 9th!

Over the crazy holiday months, I had the good fortune to win some awesome Concord & 9th goodies via Instagram. I was VERY excited! I mean, who wouldn’t be?! πŸ˜‰

I’ve been tinkering with some of my new goodies here and there, and I’m looking forward to making more. Their products are fresh, innovative, and spark so many possibilities. If you haven’t gushed yet, I encourage you to check them out HERE. Fantabulous! πŸ™‚

hawkins_jill_enjoy_00_wmI stamped the ‘Enjoy’ in navy ink, to mix it up a bit. I like how it plays off the Distress colors I used. I can never decide when I should stop messing with the watercolors. Then, I accidentally splattered the panel, so hence, the whole thing was splattered in the end! πŸ™‚hawkins_jill_enjoy_wmThis set from Concord & 9th is called: Lots of Blots. πŸ˜‰

The Wonky Stitched Rectangles are from My Favorite Things.

Happy Valentine; MFT Sketch #264

photoSqueaking one in for the MFT Sketch Challenge this week: Sketch #264. (My Favorite Things Challenge & Inspiration blog.)
Here’s my take: Abstracting and label making love. ❀

hawkins_jill_happy valentine_00_wmAnd the Stitched Heart STAX! So <3. I put everything on a wonky angle, because apparently that’s what I do! πŸ˜‰hawkins_jill_happy valentine_wmI used the Abstract Stencil, spraying pink & gray Copics with the Distress Marker Sprayer. It’s always on my desk, but I’m trying to clean and purge. So I moved it to a “better location” and it took me 10 minutes to find it. I think I function better in the organized chaos? Ha! πŸ™‚

My card is made with the following supplies at My Favorite Things: Die-namics: Stitched Heart STAX, Wonky Stitched Rectangle STAX. Stamps: Label Maker Love. Stencil: Abstract. Card stock and Inks (Tickled Pink and Gravel Gray)

Be Happy…

I have been a busy bee working on things for February! So much fun to come. In doing so, I have made several pieces that collect on my desk, til they land on something. This little watercolored panel final parked itself last night πŸ™‚

I adore this Technique Tuesday Be Happy stamp set. (I’m pretty sure I’m interested in every set Teri Anderson whips up. Gah!) Love that handwriting!! πŸ™‚

hawkins_jill_be happy_wmI also used TT’s new Heart Strings die. It is to die for. So delicate and SUPER versatile.

hawkins_jill_be happy_00_wm I embossed and used some crazy watercoloring for the sentiment. I stamped the card base using Versamark. Love that Versamark! πŸ™‚ I thought this little ditty came together in such a happy little manner. Sometimes you just need to let things sit and percolate. πŸ™‚

The background stamp and the Wonky Stitched Rectangles are from My Favorite Things. πŸ˜‰

Have a great weekend! Burrrrr!

Happy 5th!

Lots of fun birthdays to make cards for! I used some awesome Avery Elle stamp sets for this one: Numbered Balloons, Party Animal, and Surf’s Up! I decided I’d love to have the dies from the Numbered Balloons! πŸ™‚ Never fails. Haaa!hawkins_jill_happy 5_wmOh, to be five! πŸ™‚

hawkins_jill_happy 5_00_wmI colored the van with Copics, used Distress inks to rub over, and finished off the balloon with some Wink of Stella shine. That was a mistake bc my WOS pen is sort of on the fritz and spurts out a lot all at once. Should have waited til after I photo’d. I say this EVERY TIME I touch that pen! Grrrrr. Haaaa! Oh well. πŸ™‚

The wonky stitch rectangle die cut is MFT. I’m pretty much using that on everything rightΒ  now πŸ™‚ The STAX set it comes from rocks! πŸ™‚

That’s about it for today. Stay warm! I went out this morning and it was 1 lovely degree today! πŸ™‚

My Beaker Bubbles; MFT Sketch #263

photoAnother week, another MFT Sketch Challenge. Sketch #263 on the My Favorite Things Challenge & Inspiration blog. Yana’s guest projects over there this month are fun!! πŸ™‚

Here’s my take: Love. This. Chemistry. ❀
hawkins_jill_my beaker1_wm
I stamped gray on gray here, but the ink really soaked into the card stock overnight. Wacky.

Also, I believe this is a flask, not a beaker. But I color owls blue. So, you know. All is fair in creative endeavors, right? πŸ˜‰

hawkins_jill_my beaker_00_wmLaina’s newly released sets for January make me so very happy! The minute I saw it, I knew there was Undeniable Chemistry! πŸ™‚

My card is made with the following supplies at My Favorite Things: Die-namics: LLD Chemistry Set, Basic Edges, File Folder Edges, Wonky Stitched Rectangle STAX (LOVE!), Stitched Fishtail Banners. Stamps: Undeniable Chemistry. Card stock and Inks.

Wishing You…

This is one of the Altenew stamp sets I wanted for quite some time. I am drawn to geometric images. I love lines, which is good because I drew thousands of them, with a pencil (!), in college/grad school!!Β  πŸ˜‰

hawkins_jill_love peace_wmI first embossed and painted in the fish from the Altenew Ori Kami stamp set. (This card I used Distress Inks to watercolor with.) They came out awesome. Then, I had to paint the water. Eeek! I didn’t want to botch it! There is a little overrun of the paint in places I didn’t want it, but hey, that’s watercolor and handmade, right?hawkins_jill_love peace_00_wmWatercolors always dry differently than they look initially. Sometimes good, sometimes bad. πŸ™‚ Either way, fun to do!

A Different Kind of PS Love

I just think these Paper Smooches flower dies with their long stems are such fun! For this card however, I chopped those lovely stems right off. The horror! I cringed. πŸ˜‰

hawkins_jill_love_wmI had this card idea floating around in my head for weeks and weeks and finally got it out. The original plan was to use a rainbow of colors though. Then this happened! πŸ˜‰

hawkins_jill_love_00_wmDefinitely out of my comfort zone combining the uncontrolled watercolors with the precise die cutting! I always like a good challenge though. πŸ˜‰

I stacked a few of the Love die cuts up to give it a little more oomph. I also used the negative to get an “extra” flower.

Paper Smooches supplies: Dainty Flowers dies, Dainty Flowers 2 dies, Love Word die.

I’m again playing along with the new January Paper Smooches Challenge! πŸ™‚ Check it out! Pick four colors (and neutrals, as needed) and make something fun! My first card HERE, I tried to use colors from this photo. This time, I just went rogue! πŸ˜‰

Avery Elle: Winter!

I have so many supplies that have been screaming at me to use them. So, I am doing just that! πŸ™‚ This time, I busted out another favorite, Avery Elle.

My Grannie lives in sunny Florida and recently moved. I thought she would get a kick out of a “Cool Digs” igloo card in Florida! πŸ™‚

hawkins_jill_cool digs_wmThis Distress ink watercolors look pretty dang cool in person, but yet, I just can’t get the photo to cooperate. (The photography saga goes on! Ha!! πŸ™‚ )

hawkins_jill_cool digs_00_wmI thought it would be fun to do a tone on tone background for this jazzy tag. So I used the Happy Camper set and did just that. Delightful πŸ™‚ The igloo and sentiment are from the fun set, Home Sweet Home. Love that teepee! πŸ™‚

This works out to play along with the AEIβ™₯U Challenge this month: Winter!Challenge 32Here’s just a few other Avery Elle projects I made previously: here, here, here, & here!
