Taylored Expressions-April Card Kit–Alpha FUN!

Well, I just had to stop and think what month we were in to write the title of this post! Haaaa! Here we are, end of APRIL already!! Which means a new Cardmaking Kit over  at Taylored Expressions!!

I know I absolutely say this often, but I wouldn’t say it if I didn’t mean it–this is a GOOD ONE! 😊😊 This is called the  Alpha Bits Kit and it is awesome! I love the font TE chose to use for this and I love the size of the letters! I have alpha bit soup still on my desk 🙂

This first card uses lots of goodies in the kit:

  • Tall Tales Alpha die
  • Drop Shadow Stencils
  • Bold Border Background Blocks

I did some masking here to create this one–both for the background stamping and the drop shadow of the stencil. I think it turned out fun! And it was super easy. I used Oyster and Earl Grey and then altered them stamp to stencil.

Of course, the linear edges scream to be stitched, so I listened and did just that. I have PLENTY of letters to make some more of these, so I’m looking forward to that! 🙂

Next up, I had to laugh because I say this all the time.. It’s like a double positive with a negative in there–and then with yes, on the side. 😂 I wasn’t sure if it was a Midwest thing or just a me thing, but Jen Shultz has confirmed that she too says something like this. 🙂 I love being able to personalize cards with fun sentiments!

These letters are cut from Tropical Punch and then stamped with Tropical Punch ink using the Bold Border Background Blocks. One of my other favorite things about this week’s release is the Wavy Stitch Stacklets! And that we can use them alllllllllllllllllll the time now! Eeeeeep!

I couldn’t resist adding in the Simple Strip is from the Simple Strip-Snarky set. Oh my goodness–I still laugh at this one! I hope you get a kick out of it too 🙂

Here’s the scoop from Taylored Expressions:

The Alpha Bits Kit is $67 packaged in a zippered pouch with a custom sticker. The kit includes:
  • Tall Tales Alpha die
  • Drop Shadow Stencils
  • Bold Border Background Blocks
  • The Insiders – Alpha Bits
  • True Colors Inspiration Cards (Set of 4)
Most kit items are not available to purchase individually.

Taylored Expressions-Scattered Blooms!

I can’t even believe it, but it is the end of March and that means a new Cardmaking Kit over  at Taylored Expressions!! The ease of this Scattered Blooms Kit and the lovely flowers one can create so easily is going to make you go all 😍😍! It did me! 🙂

First up –I just love how these colors came together on the Scattered Blooms stencil layers and how it turned out! 🙂 When you have a new set, you’re never quite sure what you’re creating til it all comes together. And I never chuck anything (I don’t have time for that silliness 😂), so I’m always hopeful. This is was a delightful result!

First I foiled the Scattered Blooms Foil it with Dark Blue Foil and then I blended all the colorful layers on.

And the Big Hugs die is awesome–don’t forget to snag the Big Hugs Backer, if you’re interested. I can all but guarantee you’re going to want that. But I do love it is not included in the kit, because things like that surely keep the price down for us–and then you personally have the choice to order or not. 🙂

The Simple Strip is from the Simple Strip-Friendship set. I wish I had blended a few more of these when I made this one! Always the way. 🙂

Next up, I went with the pinks and purple-ish colorway and I must say, I was not disappointed! For this, I used a Pink Foil and then blended and die cut the flowers. I absolutely love how the Scattered Blooms Die not only is easy to align and cut these out, but how it makes this letter press like impression etch on the flowers! The details!! 😍

I thought this would make a pretty Mother’s Day Card, so I used the Get the Word Out-Mother’s Day stamp and die.

The background was created with the Masking Stencil-Square and Sour Gummy ink with a VERY light hand!

I love how this one turned out too! I’m hoping to make a few more cards with this kit this week! 🙂

Here’s the scoop from Taylored Expressions:

The Scattered Blooms kit is $67 packaged in a zippered pouch with a custom sticker. The kit includes:

  • Scattered Blooms Layering Stencil
  • Scattered Blooms Cutting Plate
  • Big Hugs Die

  • True Colors Inspiration Cards (Set of 4)
Kit items are not available to purchase individually.

Taylored Expressions-First Card Kit of 2024!

Hello! I don’t know about you, but I am stunned it’s the end of January! HOW? Wow is all I can say! It’s been a busy month!

The first card kit for 2024 is releasing today at Taylored Expressions! This Pattern Play Kit is one of those kits you could just have fun for all the weeks and months ahead! Love it!

My first card, I had to die cut allllll the colors. NO joke–You should see my pile–I die cut for over an hour 😄! I just wanted everything ready and available to tinker around with. So glad I did!

I decided to design my pattern in the same color order, but I went in columns and snaked it back up and down. So in the end, it looks random, but if you really stop and look, you’ll see I went in the same order. I have always loved those scrap quilts people make and this has a bit of that random feel to me–albeit all cut the same 😉.

The sentiments are from Simple Strips-Crafty (so fitting, right?)and from Mini Strips- Hello Add Ons. OH and I used the Pierced Grid Cutting Plate die (you can purchase separately) as my background–I will be using this one often! Love that subtle texture!

Next up, I used one of the Maps in the kit to create this card with Tropical Punch, Dijon and Raspberry Sorbet!

Different than I would normally whip up, but I thought it had that homey, cozy feel! The TE Maps – Pieced Patterns in the kit really make this QUICK to do and quite cathartic! The trick is to have all your pieces cut and just have fun putting the puzzle together! 🙂

The Hello is from Big Hello and the Simple Strip is Simple Strips – Crafty again. I wish I was under this “quilt” right now! 🙂

Lastly, just one more quick card I made.  This one is completely random and I had a quick window to make it, but I am looking forward to making more because I have sooooo many pieces! Hooray!

The sentiments on this one is the Bold Birthday Die and the Bold Birthday Backer. Hopefully my son’s friend liked it! 🙂

These are so fun to make!! 🙂 If you don’t have the TE Sticky Sheets, there are some in the kit. However, I definitely recommend grabbing an extra pack–I used them often! Oh and the TE Maps – Pieced Patterns also come in the kit, but know they are consumables so you may want more of those too!

Here’s the scoop from TE:

The Pieced Patterns Cardmaking Kit retails for $57, is packaged in a zippered pouch with a custom sticker, and includes:
  • Pieced Patterns – Squares die
  • Pieced Patterns – Triangles die
  • Four Square 6×6 Background stamp
  • Sticky Sheets (set of 10 sheets)
  • TE Maps – Pieced Patterns
  • The Insiders – Everyday Occasions panels
  • True Colors Inspiration Cards (set of 4)
Most kit items are not available to purchase individually.
Additional products available to purchase outside of the kit: Pierced Grid Cutting Plate die, Pieced Patterns envelope seals (set of 10, 5 each of 2 designs), TE Maps – Pieced Patterns, and The Insiders – Everyday Occasions panels.

Limited quantity available.

Taylored Expressions: Snow Crystals Kit!

Today there is a new release over at Taylored Expressions and it’s the TE October Card Kit! Snow Crystals! Oddly this is fitting because while today is Halloween (Happy Halloween!), it is supposed to snow here in Chicagoland! 🎃 Burrrrrrr!

Let’s get this snowy party started! First up, I foiled a couple cards–always so fun to see the results!

This first one I foiled with Rainbow foil, but this piece only included the blues/purples/pinks. It turned out snowytastic, if I do say. The foil is always hard to capture in photos, but in person it is oooo la la, I promise 😊

I also used the Diagonal Stitched Rectangle Stacklets to jazz this one up a smidge more. I die cut the big snowflake from Dragonfruit to tuck behind my sentiment that is heat embossed in Rose Gold–on Sour Gummy (of course) and backed with the TE Silver Glitter Cardstock. I love Happy New Year cards–it also buys you a few more days to get them out! 😂

This next one, I kept really simple, but I wanted to foil this Swirling Snow Foil It with Summer Rainbow (ironic, I know). And the insider sentiment fit perfectly so I had to use that because Hibernating is REAL!

I feel these cards to much today as I bundle up to go outside!

For both of these, I added gold splatters from the Gansai Tambi – Starry Colors Set to give them both that extra sparkle of interest– perfect for cool cards! 🙂

I’ll see you when I’m done hibernating–and yes, I’m starting on Halloween apparently this year! Ha!

Next up, I wanted to stamp all the snowflakes and of course, had to rainbow it up!

I used all the colors of the rainbow (yes, even the violets!) and then finished it off the with the chunky sparkle of Fluffy Snow! Again, in person, this is delightful, but you basically cannot see it in the photos 😋.

This kit makes snow cards fun, quick and EASY! I’m always a fan of that, especially when I need a quick card ready yesterday! 🙂

All these products are available now over at Taylored Expressions. See my links below  🙂

Petal Prints Kit from Taylored Expressions

It’s the last Tuesday of August somehow, so today is the day for the NEW Card Kit from TE.  This one is called Petal Prints and it is oh so fun!! Everything is available at Taylored Expressions  today!

Reminder: These kits are limited release, so if you see a kit that strikes your fancy, don’t delay! 🙂

This kit makes these sweet floral cards quick and easy–I love the graphic lines and feel of these flowers! I decided I would take the kit for a spin to think of other ways to use the products, in addition to the eloquently designed layouts from the stamps, stencils and Foil-Its.

First up, I could only think PARTY with these fun stamps! I love them in an an array of colors to celebrate! I chose a sentiment from the Treat Yo’ Self Set to bring this party home!

I used Dragon Fruit, Candy Corn, Pineapple, Kiwi and Snow Cone to create this party atmosphere. So simple and yet so festive!! Big fan! Ohhhh you could create festive fans! ooooooh!

It would be fun to mask and stamp these in halves to create a banner too right? Gah–love them! The endless ideas you can create!

Next up, let’s have some fun with these leaves!! I always enjoy stamping leaves and when these stamps arrived, I thought I need to make a card with those stamps alone! Leaves lend themself to so many occasions and seasons, it’s hard not to gravitate to them as a go-to.  Imagine all the cool layouts and designs you can create!

For this card, I stamped the leaves in Dragonfruit (I know, shocking!), Sweet Potato, Dijon, Poblano Pepper and Oyster.

I used the Diagonal Stitched Rectangle Stacklets and the sentiment is called Oh My Word- Thank You. I stamped it using a few of the inks and thought it turned out fun, so I decided to use it. 🙂 I want to stamp all the leaves!

Lastly, I thought I’d stamp and stencil the flowers and then die cut them, using the dies in fun ways! I created a pocket with the Sugar Cube cardstock and abstractly tucked in all the pieces. Can we call this flowers deconstructed? 🤔😊

Definitely off the rails, but I liked it in the end– a different way to look at your stamps, stencils and dies. 🙂

This sentiment is called Oh My Word-Welcome and the Simple Strip is from the Simple Strips-Coffee set. I think I just used this set recently before? Ha! 🙂 I stamped the Welcome in Poblano Pepper and Mushroom. I wasn’t sure that would turn out, but it did! Hey hey!

I love the Foil Its that are available with to purchase too–all the toner printed lines give quite an awesome shine in foil! Have fun creating with this one! It is definitely one of my favorite TE Floral sets and a fave TE Card Kit…. though, I have to say, that list is LONG! I’m ok with that. 🙂

And don’t forget the envelope seals for this one! Gah!

Here’s the scoop from Taylored Expressions:

The Petal Prints Cardmaking Kit retails for $72, is packaged in a zippered pouch with a custom sticker, and includes:

Wreathed In Joy Kit from Taylored Expressions

It’s the last Tuesday of July (HOW?)–so we welcome a NEW Card Kit from TE.  This one is called Wreathed in Joy Kit and Taylored Expressions has this available to purchase today!

Reminder: These kits are limited release, so if you see a kit that strikes your fancy, don’t delay! 🙂

Let’s get the holiday music going and get to craftin’!

I always like a non-traditional color mix to get crazy with and this one is a jazzy one to me. It’s probably not for everyone, but I love how lovely and soft these turned out! I think I conjure up this color combo due to the “I only got an orange in my stocking at Christmas” statement I heard as a kid–along with “up hill both ways to school”, etc. 😂

I digress 😂– Back to the crafty chat–I used Salt Water as my panel color base. It definitely brings an elegance to these cards, in my opinion. Don’t get me wrong, I can use Sugar Cube on Sugar Cube on Sugar Cube for eternity, but it’s fun to mix it up, now and again. 🙂

I used the the Vintage Sprigs background to create this panel with Versamark and TE Clear Embossing powder. I definitely tend to lean to the subtle–the downside being it’s easier to appreciate those details in person vs. photos. 😉 Just a forewarning–this Vintage Sprigs is going to be coming out often from my collection!

This was a fun design to create too! I put the Peace on Earth sentiment from the Fly Your Flag 2 set on a clear block and stamped in repeatedly with Oyster Ink. If you did this with a Misti, you may get even better results, but I think a clear acrylic block works just as well. Honestly, there is no trick to this–I just wing it. So don’t look to close, because it isn’t perfect, but it is handmade. 😊

I stamped and blended two additional wreaths to create this design, but I think you can honestly create it with just the one. I wasn’t sure exactly how I wanted it laid out, so I made extra, but one might be plenty! 🙂

I stamped the wreath “frame” with Avocado ink (rarely does this lovely color see the light of day–but it’s soooo good!) and then blended on the green bits with Mint Julep, Spearmint and Poblano Pepper. The orange words and berries are created with Peaches n’ Cream and Sweet Potato Pie

The dies I used for the frames are the following: Frame in Frame 2 Cutting Plate, Frame in Frame 3 Cutting Plate,  and Petite Scallop Rectangle Stacklets. The background is created with the Pierced Circles Cutting Plate.

I might spread out the two letters (J & Y) out a little further if I make this design again. However, overall I love the fun departure from traditional colors! 🧡💚

Here’s the scoop from Taylored Expressions:

The Wreathed in Joy Cardmaking Kit retails for $65, is packaged in a zippered pouch with a custom sticker, and includes:

Seaside Escape Kit from Taylored Expressions

It’s the last Tuesday of June (gasp!)–hence, a NEW Card Kit from TE.  This one is called Seaside Escape Kit and Taylored Expressions has this available today, along with a few extras, if you’d like. 🙂

Can you feel the ocean breeze? ahhhhhh

I had fun making these and feeling like I was oceanside while doing it! The stencils make three Mini Slim Panels, which of course means you get three Mini Slim cards boom!

With all the blues in the TE catalog, you can achieve some fun blue waves. Or go crazy and mix it up! Who says waves have to be blue?

I made a few sheets of the seashells, so I die cut them all out and mixed them up to create a fun summer shaker!

I stamped the Wood Plank Background on Salt Water Taffy to create this card. The shaker frame was created using the Stitched Mini Slim Stacklets. I guess I could have added some sand for the complete Seaside effect? 😂 Such a fun summer card to send.

I die cut the sentiments out using the add-on You’re a Treasure die. I also added some fun details with the Diagonal Stitch Mini Slim Stacklets and the Stitched Mini Slim Stacklets. I also used the Petite Scallop Mini Slim Stacklets.

I have a few more panels sitting on my desk to make into cards. Be sure to follow me on Instagram ( jilldhawkins) to see if I finish those up soon. 😊

Here’s the scoop from Taylored Expressions:

The Seaside Escape Cardmaking Kit retails for $60, is packaged in a zippered pouch with a custom sticker, and includes:

  • Triple Slim – At the Beach Layering Stencil & Clear Combo set
  • Triple Slim – At the Beach Accessories die collection
  • You’re a Treasure stamp set
  • The Insiders – Seaside Escape panels
Most kit items are not available to purchase individually.
Additional products available to purchase outside of the kit: You’re a Treasure die collection, Triple Slim – At the Beach Seashells Cutting Plate die, Mini Slim Layer Stacklets die collection, Additional Mini Slim Layer Stacklets die collection, The Insiders – Seaside Escape panels, and Seaside Escape envelope seals.

Love Grows Here Kit from Taylored Expressions

It’s that time of the month and it’s May! So….  a NEW TE Card Kit and it’s called: Love Grows Here!  Taylored Expressions has this available today, along with lots of little extras, if you’d like. 🙂

Let’s get this Plant Party started, because I have no shelf control 😂😂

So fun–I love a good pun, and this one made me laugh. Of course, to really bring home the message, plants with googley eyes– I couldn’t resist! I used these combos for inks on the pots–lots of new colors! Mango and Candy Corn  & Snow Cone and  Cotton Candy.

I foiled one of these new panels from the Foil It – Essential Patterns with Champagne foil to create a “wallpapered” background, if you will.

Oh and I cut it out with the Stitched Rectangle Stacklets before stitching it on. 🙂

Next up, I wanted to create a wall of plants. I was originally thinking I’d do that organic wall of plantings only, but then I missed the pots… so I added them in. 🙂

I created a subtle background white heat embossing the new Knock on Wood Background and the Big Circle Cutting Plate.

I also love this sentiment–because some days are really like this, aren’t they? 🤣 I also used the Shelf Control Coordinating Dies (purchased separately) to cut out the sentiments on my cards.

So fun–this kit is super easy to create fun little cards with and I am looking forward to planting more myself. These need zero water to enjoy endlessly! Don’t forget the cutie Love Grows Here envelope seals too!

I forgot to take a photo of the inside of my card and I mailed it to Iowa—I might have to ask someone there to do it–oops!

PSA Reminder: TE kits tend to sell out and sometimes quite rapidly. If you are interested in this kit, be sure you order it ASAP so you don’t miss out. Sometimes it’s only hours before they sell out. Just a little memo.

Here Comes the Sun Card Kit from Taylored Expressions

It’s a super sunny day over at TE! There is a new Card Kit and it’s called: Here Comes the Sun Card Kit!  Taylored Expressions is releasing this today and there are lots of fun extras, in addition to the kit. Details on those extras at the end of my post here.

First, let me say that this kit has my name written all over it. It has sunshine and cute little smiley faces, so really, I was immediately ALL in. 🙂

First up, I used one of the cute and super fun additions to the kit: Radiant Cutting Plate. I was planning on using this vertically til I finished putting all the rays in and realizing… OH, this needs googley eyes!! 🙂

I can’t even stand it! 🙂 Plus I can make five more of these pretty quickly because I have all the pieces die cut out already. 😉

I added the smiley from the kit —Clearly Crafty Here Comes the Sun stamp set and some stitching and called it good! I always say simple cardmaking is actually tricky, but when you’re done, you’re done.  🙂

The little sentiment is from the Clearly Crafty Here Comes the Sun stamp set too.

Next up, I have this cutie pie using the , the Here Comes the Sun die collection, Rotating Cloud Stencil and the sentiment from Shine So Bright stamp set along with the Shine So Bright die collection (sold seperately).

Naturally, I had to add googley eyes here too. I mean, I’m pretty sure this kit just screams googley eyes! 🙂 I used three colors on the stencil to ultimately create the rainbow colors. I thought this turned out fun.

I used the following inks: Lollipop, Pineapple, and Cookie Monster. I also used the Petite Scallop Square Stacklets in two sizes. So fun! Oh and I used the previously released Rainbow Cloud Duo

Lastly, I just wanted to use the foil panels and I thought this one turned out fun–again… Googley. Eyes. I told you–ha!

I used the Shatter Glass Silver foil and then used the Shine On Layering Stencil set. The sentiment again comes from the Shine So Bright stamp set, which I white heat embossed. The smiley comes from the Clearly Crafty Here Comes the Sun set. Gah So cute!!

Again, I added some stitching and a those little pink cheeks before cutting the panel with the Stitched Rectangle Stacklets and layering it on the Petite Scallop Rectangle Stacklets.

Oh and the  Cloud Stacklets die collection is available–I never got it and I am excited to get it now!

Needless to say, I am a HUGE fan of this kit! To be fair, I haven’t met a kit I didn’t like yet 😊. Just a heads up, there are super cutie little envelope seals available for this one too. I do not need any more envelope seals but you betcha I’m ordering a couple packs. 😂

PSA: TE kits tend to sell out and sometimes quite rapidly. If you are interested in this kit, be sure you order it ASAP so you don’t miss out. Sometimes it’s only hours before they sell out. Just a little memo from what I have seen happen! 🙂

With All My Art Card Kit from Taylored Expressions

Today, there is a new kit –it’s so fun and it’s called: With All My Art Card Kit!  Taylored Expressions has this  new release today and there are a few extras not to miss, in addition to the kit. Be sure to read all the way to the bottom for all the details.

I made a handful of cards… a few super simple cards that can be easily made in bunches–which of course, I realize I should have done after the fact. 🙂

Let’s start with this fun little number… how cute are these little paint brushes?! I cut them each out of Toffee cardstock and then cut the little “metal” parts from a scrap of foiled cardstock I had on my desk. I always keep those scraps to use later. 🙂

I used Tropical Punch, Pineapple and Strawberry Milkshake inks along with the Stencil in the kit. I love how layering them gave this transparent look!

I used the Stitched Frame Stacklets 3 after I did the stenciling–love this fun little punch!

The dies to cut out the sentiments are sold separately from the kit, so if you like added option, but sure to grab those too.

Next up, I have this sweet little number in all the pinks! For this one, I wanted to give it that super clean paint look… is there such a thing? Ha! I was thinking of how painters and drop clothes and everything is always WHITE in painting. 🙂

I created this Sugar Cube panel using the Diagonal Stitched Square Stacklets to frame my design. I used Lollipop, Strawberry Milkshake and Cupcake. It’s fun because the brushes are one die and there are separate dies to also just cut the bristles and another to cut the paint for the end. I love this feature! This card uses the larger paintbrush and my first card uses the smaller paint brush.

I used the sentiment, Hey Crafty Friend from the sentiment set included.

Lastly, I created these three cards quite simply and quickly using the following inks: Lollipop, Candy Corn, Lemon, Granny Smith and Cookie Monster. Of course, I had to add googley eyes to one. 😉

For each of these, I also used Petite Scallop Rectangle Stacklets, Stitched Rectangle Stacklets and Little Bits – Hearts. They stacklets layer perfectly using the largest die in each set.

Here’s the scoop from Taylored Expressions:

The With All My ‘Art’ Cardmaking Kit retails for $60, is packaged in a zippered pouch with a custom sticker, and includes:
  • With All My Art stamp set
  • Bold Brushes Layering Stencil set
  • Splash of Color stamp set
  • Paint the Town die collection
  • The Insiders – With All My Art panels
Most kit items are not available to purchase individually.
Additional products available to purchase outside of the kit: With All my Art die collection, With All My Art Envelope Seals (set of 10), and The Insiders – With All My Art panels
